I had a total nerdgasm, I think they did amazing jobs casting, my only complaint is that Valentine should have blonde hair. The hunters outfits look badass and the rune tattoos are awesome.

I've been planning to read the books before the movie came out, is it worth reading? I liked Legend by Marie Lu and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, though I'm not interested in any 'romance-driven' novels. I read somewhere that the plot was about a girl falling in love with someone non-human and that really turned me off from the story... :/

The love story actually doesn't really follow the cliche. Though its been a while since I read it. They are very well written novels and definitely in my top 3 series'. If you like Legend and Hunger games, both of which I've read, you'll definitely like these.

Would it be something that I'd stick to straight away or will I have to force myself to continue reading in the first few chapters? I really only continued with Legend because my friends were reading it and it got better later on.

Its been so long since I read this series, I think its pretty straight away of a start but don't hold me to that.

I thought I'd hate the mortal instruments because of the romance. But the love triangle got out of the way by the second way and the story primarily focuses on hunting demons. The trailer looks like a horror movie.

By watching this trailer, it seems like a mix of I Am Number Four + The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising.

I don't see any similarities to I Am Number Four at all, Seeker can be considered similar in the whole "kid discover part of secret race of demon hunters" but that would be the end of similarities.
