Marijuana, at its core, is a drug. Drug in this case, though, consists of everything from OTC pills such as ibuprofen to legal recreational drugs such as alcohol to illicit drugs such as cocaine and heroin. Drugs are chemicals which do not occur naturally in the body and affect the firing of the synapses in the brain in order to produce some sort of affect. Now a drug is not necessarily a bad thing, and in fact can be a good thing for the treatment of many serious diseases. But in this case, as I said in another thread, I would recommend trying a more natural approach to aid in your sleep--melatonin, a chemical your body produces naturally and which, as such, does not have the capability to develop a dependency upon. I am not condemning marijuana usage at all--that is something that is up to the user. However, if you are smoking marijuana for the purpose of a sleep aid, I think there are other, better routes that should be tried first. If those end up not working--after trying them for an extended period of time, a week or two--then I might suggest finding an alternative to the natural cures. Now, if you stop the usage of marijuana, it is unlikely--though, keep in mind, not impossible--that you would have withdrawal symptoms or that it would lead to a lack of sleep on your part. Do remember that any drug has the capability to develop a dependency, even something like aspirin or ibuprofen. And that includes marijuana. But also keep in mind that it's not always the case, and in fact tends to be a smaller amount of cases for those drugs, but it does still happen.

Cannabis is not harmless, you will not experience withdrawal symptoms. Cannabis works for what you need it to, and with no side effects, so is there any reason to really stop?

The only possible "dependency" that you could experience would be a psychological attachment. Meaning you would believe that you need cannabis in order to fall asleep, however, there is no chemical explanation that could cause that to happen. Therefore it's a psychological attraction, not a physical one.

Considering you use cannabis only when sleeping (other uses weren't specified, if there are any) it is highly unlikely to experience any adverse affects from continued usage of cannabis in the manner you're using now.

If it works for you, use it. There's no reason to stop unless you have a personal preference to stop using cannabis.

I have really bad Insomnia, and cannabis is the only thing that works for me.
And even if pills or different medicines helped, I'd rather use a natural drug than those chemicals...

smoking cannabis for sleep aid is almost one thousand times better then sleeping pills. Overall, smoking weed has little to no side effects, especially if its .1-.2g before bed every night. Your fine bro, although because of forum rules i cannot tell you too keep smoking, if you do, you wont wake up one morning dead/dying of a disease.
