There are people spamming the forums

i have noticed lately that things are being posted in the forums under the wrong sections and they are never topic related. They are spammy messages that have links attached to them... Is there any way these members get banned.... Or are their accounts being hacked.. Its just really annoying.. Ive seen 3 members so far doing this.

Just report it. They are spambots. They will be taken care of very soon by moderators.

Ive reported like every single one... Ugh.... I still see them.. Except this time new members with a 0 post count..... And negative rep

It's really just unavoidable with a site this size. Forums attract bots. Some are good. Like GoogleBot and Bingbots. They show the site on the search engines. Others are bad, like spambots. They are coded by people who just want to cause havoc. As I said, the staff will take care of them by banning them.

All that we normie-non-mods can do is report them and then ignore them. Unfortunately we're always going to get them.

If you do see them then please report them and we can prevent them for continuing to spam and then they'll be banned. Sometimes depending on the section, spam can be left lying around as no relevant moderator/gmod has signed on to deal with it.

However be assured this is being dealt with.

We get quiet and then loud periods of spam bots attacking the forums and we have currently just passed over a loud period where spam bots have attacked the forums like no tomorrow.

But yes, reporting it does help as this means we can react quicker and prevent the continuation of that particular bot.
