BMI is 24.7
6' 1.5" and 190lbs
almost into the over weight range. I actually don't have a lot of body fat though, been lifting weights putting on some mass, looks like maybe too much.

25.9 Apparently I'm overweight? Pfft I've not exactly got much body fat on me. They should make a bmi chart for people that lift, bmi is definitely an inaccurate way to measure a healthy weight. I've been lifting for about 2 years now so I would hope I weigh above average!

i am 6'3'' and 220lb. says i am overweight. 27.5. a bit under Obesity. thats why i don't like BMI charts, because firstly, i have not finished growing, so there are still changes going on. secondly, these BMI things are made for "normal people" except there are no "normal people" because everyone is different, so how can this be accurate. and finally my body is a largly built body, i have a lot of muscle so it must think that that muscle is fat, and my muscle is natural. i just have a large build

Im about 15.9, more or less. I'm quite lean and only have 3.5% body fat, its what lots of running + superfast metabolism + high carb diet will do to you. Its gone up though, when I was 13 it was 13.7, I was extremely skinny.

I have found the BMI is acurate....IF..... you are a couch potatoe, but is worthless for the active person who lifts weights and/or plays lots of sports.

It says I am at 18.3
But entering just height and weight doesn't seem too scientific.

BMI is 24.7
It is what it is. BMI has some value, but it's not the end all be all. Just like your weight all by itself doesn't tell the whole story.
Don't buy into the big boned argument - at least you don't have to. In the mirror, I don't look fat, I'm not fat and I know it. Maybe some of you here are similar. Yet, my BMI should be lower.
All it's telling Me and other is that it's not going to be healthy for me to weigh as much as I do for my height and it doesn't matter whether it's fat or muscle.
I think it's just a soft indicator that we/I might want to make a change. Like:
Even if it's all muscle and very little fat, it's still weight that your knees and back have to deal with for the next 60-80 years. Let's face it, no matter what the source of the weight is doesn't matter to our knees and backs.
Basically, if you look okay in the mirror, good. If you look fit or very fit, great. The mirror and a little common sense is probably the best way to tell if we need to make a change.

I'm at 17.9 and I'm 16. It was higher but last summer I dropped like 15 pounds, it says I'm below healthy, but if I had any more wait I would feel a little fat.

I don't know, but BMI isn't important. It's a wrong way to determine your mass.
Wakesetter03
March 6th, 2013, 01:11 AM
16.9 lol.
Being an ectomorph XC training + cycling + swimming make it impossible for me to be majorly bulked up, I can only have a slim muscular build.
I really don't think BMI is a great way of determining mass or health. I have good muscle and build but I am apparently underweight (by 1.5 points). I personally don't think someone with 22+ is 'normal' weight, IMO that would be slightly overweight or extremely muscular (depending on height).

Mine is 25.1. But BMI measurements are not practical for bodybuilder type people because muscle mass weighs more than fat mass. Therefore this causes me to fall in the overweight range but I am not actually overweight or fat. I am muscular.
