I dont know if anyone here has legit knowledge on it, but how can you make a 4,000 4x4 run probably high 11's (11 seconds) on the strip? (Quarter mile drag track) If not...12s! Anything below 13! I mean its got a 318 I will build up to maybe 300 HP? Close to it... But theres no slicks, as of now that I will be using. If you need specifics Ill try to give em.

Thats a lot of truck to get to 11 seconds and 13 is a bit of a stretch. But the first thing you can do is reduce the weight by removing everything you don't need (interior panels, tools, spare tire, etc...) and take out the front 4x4 axle and put a lighter tube axle. Then change the axel ratios to something like 4.11's. 300hp probably wont be enough you will need more like 500hp to get where you need to be, and try to build that motor with high end torque. As for the tires you will definitely need slicks in the rear and thin tires in the front.

This will be one hell of a build and cost a pretty penny. Keep in mind that the new Mustang GT only does the quarter mile in 12.7 @ 111mph. In my opion it will be easier to buy an older car like a 95 thunderbird v8 or a 75 cutlass with a v8. There lighter and have a lot more capabilty and cheap to get to that 11 seconds.

There are fast trucks out there for sure, but yeah the weight to power ratio here is the major factor to speed and gaining it. Less weight, more power= faster speeds. And its a Mopar so Id keep it to the such axles, maybe do a Dana 60 in there. Strong, fast gearing. But the swapping out the front axle, I could disengage it then do slicks and maybe have to do stock wheels up front. Thats a respectable time for a 'Stang, but what is it running? But if I went car wise, still gonna do Mopar. And for the amount I have, I may do something like a Shelby Charger cause they are cheap cause I can NEVER afford a 60s - 70s Mopar. 2.2 with a turbo can haul if you work on them, older say '69 Plymouth GTX with a 440 or 440-6 Pack, does 11s all day stock. I mean I know Dodge Dakotas doing 11's running 360s in their trucks with few mods! Big small block, light truck...

Of course there are trucks out there that can do it but they are running turbos or are supercharged pushing out some inpressive horsepower. To get close to the power they get will easily cost over 5k. Disengaging the front axle won't help with weight or help get off the extra friction the wheels generate trying to turn the axle. And as for those 440s doing 11s stock is a lie they do about 13.

As for the Shelby Charger its front wheel drive and has a measly 2.2 so it could end costing even more than getting that truck that fast. You defenitly need a v8 and a rear wheel drive to keep it cheap and easy.

The mustang is a completly stock 2013 5.0 with no mods or even slicks. Thats an impressive time for any car. Its has 420hp and 3.73 gears and should get that 11 seconds on just weight reduction and slicks.

Ive seen diesels runs mid 13s before... But again they are known for power. And disengaging the front axle is so I can use slicks and dont need to worry about the front using power. I know its not gonna do anything with weight. And Ive seen a all stock Shelby Charger run high 12's with no slicks. And I could never afford a new Mustang and if I could, still gonna do Mopar. 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with 392 Hemi, running low 12s. BUT... If you get the Challenger Drag Pak, they run 10s all day with slicks and bigger engine and some other modified stuff. They are literally factory, or specially made factory drag cars that are street legal.

it took us 545 hp to push a 3000lb car 11.00 now it makes about 630 and goes 1080s.
