View Full Version : Hate is a strong word...

Do you think it's wrong to hate a person? Because I hate several people, but I'll only talk about two...
First is my brother. He's 21, I'm 13. Now, I don't really know why, but everytime he says something, I get aggravated. I try to avoid even talking to him. He pisses me off, and all he does is insult me. He doesn't know it affects me, but it does. And it's not something we can talk about. He doesn't know I'm self-conscious or that I'm insecure, so he still points out my flaws on a daily basis. It used to be dislike, but now it's hate. I'm sure of it.
Second is my step-brother. Even the fact of having step-family makes me angry. I just don't like him. I never said more then a word to him. I avoid him. When he asks me something, I respond, and stop talking. I can't talk to him. I NEVER do. If I wasn't forced to meet him in the first place, it might not be so bad.
Does all of this make me a bad person? I don't want to be a bad person, but this is really how I feel...

No it doesn't make you a bad person, but you have to say something to them if you ever want things to be right between you guys, you didn't say much about the step-brother, but you said your brother is 21 and he insults you, well since he's an adult and SHOULD be mature enough, you should tell him that you don't like the insults, open up to him and tell him that you're self-conscious, and the insults make it worse.
Or just tell your parents what's going on. Just tell somebody who can put a stop to this, or tell your brothers to stop because you don't like them insulting you and lowering your self-esteem.

I feel the same way about my brother (though maybe not as much). You're not a bad person, but you should try if possible to get better relationships with them. Be kinder to them, and I bet they'll be kinder back.

your 21-year-old is acting like a 12-year-old. He needs to grow up, I mean seriously? Don't sweat it... I fight with my brother every few hours.

This doesn't make you a bad person. In fact, it's very common for people to have a lot of resentment towards their step-siblings. Although you feel strongly about this, you need to realize that your step-sibling probably doesn't feel too good over the fact that you treat him so poorly all of the time. Situations that you don't prefer to be in aren't ideal; but if you don't allow yourself to get over the fact then you're just going to bring yourself more stress as time goes on.
As for your brother, I think you need to tell him to stop. Tell him what you don't like and tell him that you don't appreciate that. If he's a halfway decent person then he should listen to you -- you are his brother after all.

I dont hate anyone that i know directly. I only hate people that have done unspeakable things lik Saddam Hussein and Adolf Hitler. I belive that in order to hate someone they have to have affected you physically or mentally in a way that you cant control.
