I am having surgery to remove a cyst in between teeth 21 and 22, and my surgeon also noticed that I have four impacted wisdom teeth, and we decided to remove those as well. My question is, how much pain should I expect the days following the surgery. I will be on Percocet, (generic endocet) for pain, but I'm still worried I'll be in pain.

Surgery on Dec. 7th 2012.

Each person's pain is different. I had all four of mine taken out, I can tell you I felt nothing. Not once did I take my Vicodin prescribed for pain, that bottle was never opened. I was swollen like a melon though, looked like a hamster with its cheeks full. The only time I felt some pain was when I accidentally knocked out a blood clot. It felt like a normal scab ripping off...but in my gums. It felt so weird, I can't even describe it. I'm just happy I didn't get dry socket with how often I knocked them out.

Just see how much you feel and take the pain medication as needed.

it shouldnt be too bad
just try and avoid salty and sugary foods and be careful when brushing your teeth
the healing process should go along smoothly as long as you take the right precautions

Hey dude. I had all of my wisdom teeth taken out about six months ago.
I can tell you for a fact that everyone will react differently. If your dentist has intimidated you, remember that they usually present the best and worst case scenarios so that in the event you really do react to it, they seem to have already "warned" you.

In my case I was put through IV (intravenous) sedation and was mostly unconscious for the procedure. It was completely painless, although the drugged up feeling you get afterwards puts you out of productivity for a while.

I was able to talk right away and was eating chicken the very first night, but it took me about a week to fully recover and I was on and off mild painkillers that week, pain would slowly ease in usually in the mornings when I wake up and before bed at night time.

It's really nothing to be scared of though. It isn't a pain which millions of people our age have never felt or endured before. Think of a big wuss slightly older than you - if they went through it, so can you :D

Got all four of mine out 4 months ago, almost no pain, but my whole face was numb and I couldn't do shit with my face for like 2 days. Bleeds a lot, and you drool a lot, so keep a bunch of paper towels in your mouth.
Don't eat anything with any remote hardness. Eat soft stuff.

Surgery on Dec. 7th 2012.

I had my wisdom teeth (all four) taken out a few weeks ago.

I will say that the procedure of removal did not hurt at all, its the part after that kind of hurts and is really annoying.
I had a problem where one of the areas where one of the teeth was removed bleed for an extra few days, while the others had stopped and were healing. During this time I got barely any sleep as I was having to replace tissues in my mouth every few minutes as to stop myself from getting blood all over my bed (NOTE: This not not hurt at all though, it was just very, very annoying).
The part that hurt for me was trying to eat while the stitches were in my mouth. The food would hit the stitching and pull the healing area of my mouth a little. I also had a situation where sometimes when I tried to talk the stitching would pull tighter and hurt my gum/side of mouth area a little. It just felt like I couldn't open my mouth very wide and when I tried to open my mouth to wide I would feel a pulling sensation in my mouth. These problems soon passed though and it was barely noticeable after a few days.

Over all It really didn't hurt that at all and im sure you'll be just fine. Please don't worry about that pain as there really isn't really any pain to be worried about. I hope everything goes well for you with the removals :)

(also, sorry for the really long explanation, but I do think it should answer your question and it'll also give you a few details of what you might be in store for.)

I had similar, an infection under the tooth. I had a root canal, and it didn't hurt much in fact, having a root canal (even between surgeries) it made me feel much better whereas before I felt faint with pain and just couldn't cope. Now the nerve is removed from my tooth I cannot get any more pain! The bad thing is that I had a whole in my tooth for a few weeks to air it out for the next surgery, the worst thing is the injection definitely but now I don't have any more pain from that. I went to an emergency hospital once because of the pain, also I had a puffy cheek. But, there are many types of infections/cysts and it depends how big it is. Get it sorted as soon as possible, that's all you can do. And make sure you have painkillers (Although they didn't work for me)
