ive been swimming for 10 years competitively and im a freshman in high school and swim team starts tomorrow. i dont know if were going to have to shower but i go to an all guys school and were pretty anit-homosexual anything so i dont really know what to do. help please!

Ok well go normally and in the event you have to shower. Let them go in first and then you after and try not to think about it. Try and think of something off-putting. I always do that when I'm left in a awkward situation

While that's not bad idea it won't help him not feel embarrassed if he, for example, gets a random erection. That said, there's nothing you can do about this situation really - if you need to be changing and showering in front of people then you just need to get it over and done with and try to avoid making it any more awkward than it already is.

My school doesn't have a swim team but me and a bunch of friends swim at the YMCA together to stay in shape. If you are going into a pool you pretty much have to shower. And when I get out I sure want to get the chemically water off! We all shower but we all shower at school after PE and after other sports practices. Getting in the shower with other naked teammates is pretty much what athletes do at least at my school. Its pretty natural to check out what other guys have. No one really cares, no one teases anyone else about size or anything else. I would suggest that you just go with the flow and don't worry.

I don't want to freak you out any more than you are, but I have several friends who do swim on their schools teams and they all shave everything below the neck, so you might want to check out the other guys on your team and do what they do about body hair!

Just go in there take your clothes off and don't do anything to attract attention. There is nothing to be afraid of. I use to be soooovscared to change that I'd go in the stalls. Now when ever I go to the rec-center I get nude and just let it all hang for everyone/anyone to see. What's you get used to being nude in front of others it's really no big deal. Also try not to stare, even as much as you might want to. lol. If people call you gay for getting an erection, then you call them gay for staring. Oh and btw there is nothing wrong with being gay. :D. Good luck and I hope everything goes well. :D

Don't stand out by running to the stalls. That just tells everyone you are scared. Go in and take you clothes off naked. Be one of the first to make it look like it does't bother you. The more you do it the easier it will be. Have fun.

Alright, if I made a dollar for every question like this I've answered, I'd be rich. I was terrified my freshman year too. I, however, was starting cross country. You aren't gonna like it your first time. I can honestly say I'm still not the biggest fan of changing in a locker room. You just relax and get used to it. Showering is another deal. You also will probably be terrified the first few times for this as well. I know I was. At my school, it's a very relaxed environment. There is usually conversation. Join in, distract yourself from any possible, well, boners. Just worry about getting clean. If all else fails, get out of there! No one wants to be caught with a boner! Good luck!

if you are going to be on a swim team you are going to have to just get used to public showers with the other boys on the team. so just do it, and eventually it will be normal for you.

This exactly. I shower for gym, swimming and cross country training. You just have a conversation and try and act as normally as possible and it isn't an issue. Generally everyone else who is doing it for the first time is as nervous as well.

Yeah. We kinda make fun of guys who wear shorts or something. On the surface it seems mean, but really we do it 'cause we know they're just nervous.

Wow!....I've been swimming for as long and always have showered, but to answer your question....just act normal...if it happens, it happens, and you will not be the only one that it happens too....you're str8 so it won't happen long if it happens at all....as a gay guy, I can control myself and yes I get hard at times, but so do most of my teammates at one time or another.....and remember, your entire body will be on display as it has been in a speedo, don't think that others haven't seen what you have anyway.....enjoy your team and swim well :D

I been showering in school an on scoccer team an baseball to at first don't get me wrong it nerve wreaking !! But that's the first couple times then it nothing at all . trust me it will be ok nobody says anything at all you will be fine an good luck to you .
