And I wish I could do something about it.
This is what it looks like:

It's the big black spots. I have no idea how they happened, although I think I might have tripped over it this morning while getting up.
I looked online, but what I found is extremely expensive or the wrong thing. Is it possible to replace the screen in a not-all-too-expensive way? It's an Acer Aspire Timeline X(3830TG-6431).

I'd be very greatful if any of you could help.
Thanks!

Do a eBay search for "Acer Aspire Timeline X LCD Display" and you might find one for cheap but you're gonna have to be pretty DIY-oriented in order to get it all working.

EDIT: Just looked on eBay, they're all around $85. Sorry, not really much you can do then I guess...

I agree w masked.
I had an Acer Aspire netbook and the screen cracked bcuz I put something on the lid while it was closed. I ordered a screen from a place in canada. Cost me like 65$. They r not too tough to install. I went to Youtube and they had detailed instructionals on how to replace it. Took about 40 mins but works perfect now. And MUCH cheaper than a new netbook!
Good luck!

I found a replacement screen for $60, and I just ordered it. It should be coming in the mail in about 11 days. Hopefully FedEx lives up to its word.

Good luck! I'd be really interested in hearing how easy / hard it is to change. My sister had a laptop screen go a few months back and she's using an external monitor on it now. If its not a total nightmare I might try to fix it for her.

The hardest part is actually removing the screen parts without breaking them. Everything is super-thin plastic and tiny screws, and it took me about 30 minutes to take off just a few things.

This just in: $20 refund for making a screen replacement tutorial. I am so doing that!
