Okay, so... My girlfriend and I have been dating for 4 months. We met online, and have been in a long-term relationship. I started talking to her 6 months ago. I've been to visit her 3 times, but her parents don't approve, so we have to sneak off and hide in my car, or something like that. (I'm 18, she's 14... I know, big age difference. But she's mature.) Anyways, I know that she used to cut when she was 12-13, and she went to her older sister for help. Her older sister told their parents, and their parents basically just ignored the problem. (They're alcoholics.) We've fallen in love since then, and we miss each other, because I rarely get to see her. She talks about wanting to cut because she's so sad about missing me. So far, I've gotten her to not do it, but I wish I could make her not want to anymore. I've never done it myself, but I know it can be addicting, and hard to stop. But I don't want her to do that, it breaks my heart to even think about it. So please, someone tell me how I can help her... I know everyone says "Be there for them. Do things with them." But it's hard when we're so far away. The best I can do is call her. I don't have good enough cell service here to Skype, and I don't have internet for my laptop. After I visit her, we stay happy for around a week, and from then until the next time we're together, we're sad again. I can't take it, and it hurts me too, but I want to help her.

Sorry this was so long. My thoughts are jumbled right now because I'm so scared. I hope you can make some sense out of it. This is a picture of us together the last time I visited...

You could try good old snail mail. Send her a letter every day even if you're just saying hi. That way she'll know that you're always thinking about her and that she's never alone.
