View Full Version : What songs make you cry?

I'm just curious to what songs, for whatever reason, makes you sad or cry. Of course, if no songs make you sad/cry then this thread doesn't apply to you :P

For me, this song and it's music video:

eAfyFTzZDMM

Really gets to me.
What about you?

If I'm James Dean you're Audrey Hepburn - sleeping with sirens

Many memories with that song </3

The music video for Concrete Angel by Martina McBride makes me cry just because it's sad, Nicest Thing by Kate Nash can make me teary, and - this one is a little far fetched - Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk by Rufus Wainwright always makes me cry, without fail. On my first overnight trip in 5th grade, I couldn't sleep, so my teacher lent me her iPod to fall asleep to, and that was the first song in the playlist. I guess it meant a lot to me since I was terrified and 5th grade was absolutely the worst year of my life and my teacher had been there for me through it all. Oh, and, You Are My Sunshine by Anne Murray makes me teary because one of my first dolls was a wind-up doll, a soft little thing, that played the notes and it was so soft and sweet. I have such fond memories of listening to it, and plus, my mom always used to sing it to me.

Yellow - Coldplay, The Best Day - Taylor Swift, and Thank You Mom - Good Charlotte all remind me of my mom. I can't listen to any without fighting tears.

Broken Wings - Flyleaf. My best friend dedicated that song to me when I was going through a hard time.

I Will Follow You Into The Dark - Death Cab for Cutie, Sail Away - Styx and Sky Fell Over Me - Shiny Toy Guns all remind me of my aunt that passed away last year.

The Distance - Hot Chelle Rae, Vanilla Twilight - Owl City, and West Coast - Coconut Records. These all remind me of how I was once 3000 miles away from my boyfriend for so many months and I pray every day that I don't have to be ever again.

Picturesque - Chase Coy, You Had Me At Hello - A Day to Remember, and an endless amount of others but these are the two main two songs that get me because they're me and my boyfriend's songs. I cry any time I hear them. They remind me how lucky I am and that I should always be grateful for what I have.

Even though I'm a dude and all this one made me a little teary. I don't normally listen to this type of music, but I stumbled upon it knowing that Blake Shelton from the voice wrote it.
Hope I don't sound weird lol

Vanilla Twilight by Owl City. In ninth grade, this was my first real boyfriend and my song. When he dumped me, I cried for days and it still gets to me.

The Last Night by Skillet and Your Guardian Angel by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. These were the songs that my ex boyfriend Austin used to sing for me. Since he went back on everything he promised me with those lyrics and completely ripped my heart out and spit on it, I can't even listen to them. If I did, I'd just die inside.

Any song that was popular back in like, seventh grade, because that was back when things didn't suck.

I won't give up-Jason Miraz because it is mine and Seths song. He loves me and hearing how he feels expressed in song really gets to me. (:

Irish music is typically sad and i love it. A few sad songs i listen to are "The town I loved so well" by Phil Coulter and "Green fields of France" by the dropkick murphy's. Also one more song not irish "Landslide" by Fleetwood mac. Trt listening to all of them, or at least the first 2, and let me know what you think about them.

P.s Most Smashign Pumpkins songs are sad and they're my fav band.

Hurt - Nine Inch Nails... I cried like crazy in the first I listened to it :/

Also, Blue Jeans - Lana Del Rey, the song and the music video... That damn music video, it just describes my relationship with a person in an amazing way!

Most are situational. Hate Me - Blue October got me crying when I saw them live, I'm sure I've cried over Hurt, Hero - Superchick (lol), Concrete Angel yes. I'm definitely not a crier, though. Not music, films, books (except the seventh Harry Potter). Random commercials, yes. I blame it on the bipolar.

However, this one is absolutely horrible. In that respect, I mean. I can't help but worry when I hear it, then I'm off crying as if it was MY father who died.

The only song that gets me close to teary, is Johhny Cash's version of the Nine Inch Nails song 'Hurt' a very dark, heart felt version. You could tell the song meant something to Johhny, and it was just very moving.

I usually dont get emotional to songs, but here are a few that I do get emotional.
Hurt- Johnny Cash
Concrete Angel- Martina McBride
One More Day- Diamond Rio

I just recently heard a remix of Dont You Worry Child By Swedish House Mafia that had voices from Congress and parents talking about their children not coming out and seeing them in the Sandy Hook Massacre. It is so emotional !!! :( If you think about it, that could have been one of us in that situation. Rest In Peace

I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston gets me crying. I get neigher sad nor happy. Its kind of a mix of both. The lyrics are sad. Yet her vocals are so happy and intense

Perhaps it's "Maybe" from the musical Next to Normal. It's a pretty emotional song, but even more heartbreaking when listened to in the context of the show.

Also, it might be weird, but the Kiseki/Kokoro songs of Vocaloid make me sad as well...

Google and listen to these:

-Benedictus: 2cellos
-Viva la vida: 2cellos
-The resistance: 2cellos
^these are just so beautiful.
(I'm a cellist, and I'm in love with these pieces ^ they give me goosebumps and I cry everytime I hear them.)

-Unsaid: Angher (story of my life. Singer sounds like he's singing from a sad broken soul, and it makes me cry. Plus the band has an electric cellist :) )
-My immortal: Evanescence (nuff said. Sad sad song about heartbreak)
-Just a Dream: Nelly (story of my life. My dreams make me fall in love, and the love hurts really bad :( )

Avenged Sevenfold's 'So Far Away', dedicated to the Rev, touches me a lot. So does 'Warmness on the Soul.' It's such a beautiful song. And virtually every song off of Nightmare except for the title track and Welcome to the Family. I can't even listen to that album anymore. it's just so depressing.
