I would like to see you be able to have more than only 10 options on polls.

Is that really necessary? Why would you want more than 10?

Well, maybe if you were doing something like "Which US State do you live in", and you wanted a poll, it'd be a sad day for you. :P

10 is a good number.
It is set at 10 because if you had anymore, you would have to scroll forever to get to get to the posts. It would also clutter the threads up, and not to mention, take up more server space ( :p )
10 is plenty

Even assuming it was just a case of changing the limit in an option file or similar, if you just allowed eg 100 options or unlimited options, the whole interface could quickly become unwieldy and run onto several screenfulls.
To overcome that, what you might want then is server software not only with the ability to accept more than 10 statements / key words from the poll starter, but it would also have to present the options to users more compactly (eg as a drop down box) and then only graph those options that were chosen. You'd need someone with time and skill to make such software changes (and maintain them), or a third party plug in with those features.

I think 10 is a well rounded number.
If in the event you were needing more than 10 options then I would just ask people to reply in thread.
A poll with an unlimited number would be awful. If it was to be increased I would say either 15 or 20 MAX.

I think 20 works, because I find it annoying myself when I'm making a poll and I have to leave stuff out, because of the current limit.

It can be changed easily but a poll with too many options doesn't really serve any useful purpose. Having 18 poll choices with 2 or 3 per answer doesn't show a good amount of information that's analyzable.

If you really need so many options on a poll, then it becomes more a survey. Sometimes, if it's not an inappropriate or against-the-rules topic, you can create a survey on a survey-making site.
take up more server space ( :p )
There's plenty of that, and every poll potion shouldn't take up more than a few bytes.

I think that 10 does quite nicely. I use the poll allot for my threads, and I have never used more than 10 options.

Wouldn't it be easier in this case to do it by regions? Like New England, West, South, South West, etc?

Sure, but maybe people want to do individual states. That wasn't really the point I was really trying to get across.

You really only need more than 10 options on a poll if you are going to be getting a ton of responses. The only place I can think that could possibly use it is the Penis Size thread in P101, because it has like 6k responses. Then again, the data is not too reliable, as many people are still growing and guys tend to exaggerate a bit, whether they know it or not.
So I don't really see it as necessary, a post in response will always work.
