I think its possible i may be diabetic, know it can be hereditary and my grandma on my dads side has it and my grandad on my mums side did.
Occassionally i get dizzy and feel close to feinting, i kind of get cold sweats. If i had something sugary likefizzy pop or biscuits i start to feel better but after i generally i still feel a bit weak.
Any ideas?

Do you know whether the grandparents that you mentioned have been/were diabetic for most of their lives because many people only develop it when they get older. If they only developed it later in life it's probably unlikely that you have it now. My gut feeling is that you are projecting their situation onto yourself and imagining that you have a problem because you are worried about inheriting it.
But there is no need for you to worry over it, health advice is free in the UK. Talk to your doctor. They can do simple tests to determine whether you are diabetic.

As Nick suggested, go and see your GP. They'll probably do something called a 'fasting blood glucose test' to try to get a bit more of a definitive answer of what's up.
In terms of the dizziness / feinting / cold sweats, whilst these are classic symptoms of a hypoglycaemic attack (low blood sugar), they could also be attributed to lots of other issues i.e. low blood pressure, infection, vertigo e.t.c. which are all fairly easily treated.

If you go to the doctor, the first test he will do is a simple urine dip test, they will be able to tell from that if you are or are not a diabetic. However, the urine test is not always accurate, as some diabetics NEVER show sugar in urine, so the doctor will probably ask for a fasting blood test as others have said.
Diabetis is on both my mothers and fathers side of the family, but I became a Type 1 Diabetic (onset juvenile diabetis) just about a year ago. Unless you are very overweight, then the chances are you would be a Type 1 diabetic requiring either injections of insulin, or by taking tablets for the rest of your life. It is VERY important that you get checked out as soon as possible, as there are severe consequences for not getting it sorted.
