If I was to get an upper ear cartilage piercing, what ear should I get. Is there any major difference between left and right? Oh and I'd do it myself so I knew the needle was sterile. I know the inherent risks I just couldn't figure out which earl.

If you have bangs, I would go with the side opposite of them. My bangs are on my right side and so is my cartilage piercings and I'm always hitting it and catching hair on it when I play with my hair and push it behind my ear and stuff. Or, if you normally sleep on a certain side, you may want to get it on the other side, that was an issue for me too.

No no no no no. Don't be silly. Go to a piercer. They can give you tips on placement and of course, do it safely, and teach you how to look after it.
"It won't get infected!" You have much higher chance of it, whether you 'sterilize' the needle or not, your environment could be dirty, your hands, the glvoes you use if you use them, your skin.
"It's to expensive!" So are hospital bills and the pain if you get infected.

I think I'm going to put it on the left. This isn't the first piercing I had, I know how to take care of it. Thanks for your concern though, NotSoSilentHill.
I can't wait to do it :D

Maeve, I hope you haven't already done it because I'd like to suggest that you do it on the ear that sticks out a little more (everyone's ears are asymmetrical. This way the piercing will be better noticed.) Good luck!
