Ok so I saw this shirt online that made me laugh. Not to offend anyone but it said, "I'm a Christian" on the front. Then on the back it said, "Plus, Atheism is a nonprofit organisation."
Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm not judging anyone.
However there is a problem, one of my BFFs is an atheist. I told someone else and they said just wear it when he's not around. That would be hard, we go to school together and live on same block.
What should I do? Should I even bother? I do really want the shirt.
-ps. Everyone has their own opinions so don't be rude please. I'm not trying to offend anyone just want advice. Thanks

Is your friend really passionate about atheism to the point where they can't take a joke about it? You know your friend better than any of us do. If they're very adamant about atheism and if they wouldn't be able to take a joke about it, then I wouldn't wear the shirt, at least not around them. If you think that they'd be able to joke about atheism and religions and such, then go ahead and wear the shirt. If you're still too concerned, you could always ask them first. I'm sure they'd appreciate the consideration.

That seems to me to be poking more fun at Christianity than Atheism. I don't think anyone would have a problem with it.

The best thing you can do, if you REALLY do want the shirt as badly as you say you do, would be to ask your friend if it would make him uncomfortable at all. Chances are, he'd be totally fine with it and wouldn't even care. I don't feel like it's really that offensive to atheism, and if anything it seems to be more making a mockery of Christian themes. It's up to you, but I would just ask his opinion even on you wearing Christian shirts in general when he's around before I ordered it--simply for politeness' sake.

Someone somewhere is going to be offended about every thing you, and everyone else does. It's personal judgement whether you think it's 'wrong' or 'right', sort of like cancer and dead baby jokes. Do you think it's worth it if your friend does get offended? If they do, would they get over it? Just avoid the situation and not wear it around them?
I don't understand the joke, but in a way, if it is disrespecting their religion, or lack of, then think how you'd feel in the same position. Jokes only go so far, but that varies person to person as well.

That's how I read it. The implication is clearly that Christianity accrues money, where atheism doesn't, and that the wearer has ostensibly chosen to go with the 'make money' option.
If you are a Christian I wouldn't wear it as it seems to state you agree with Christianity out of greed.

I agree with them. But if you want to be sure, just show the shirt to your friend and see what he will say about it

Just make sure that if you get it, you make sure that your friend understands, that you are not trying to be offensive, and that it is a joke.

It seems like it would just be a joke between friends. As long as your beliefs don't (and would not, if he saw the shirt) interfere with your friendship, I think it's fine. If you want to ask him just in case, I don't see the harm in it, but then again, I don't see it necessary either.
