Here is a link explaining the staff on the site. The last paragraph explains how staff members are chosen. Staff members are chosen by the administrators either through applications which are put out periodically or through approaching a member privately.

21. How do I apply/become a moderator?
Mods are chosen in one of two ways:
1. There is an opening posted here. You write an application according to the guidelines in the thread, and the senior staff chooses the new moderator(s).
2. A senior staff member will PM you, and consider you as a moderator, without an application.
Do not ask to be a moderator. Just be active, dedicated to the site, and willing to help out whenever you can.
Also, if you apply to become a mod, there is no guarantee anyone will be chosen.

Openings are posted here (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=34).

So no, there is no post count requirement. But mostly they NORMALLY have more than 250 posts.

I believe the last moderator added was just under 2 months old. Don't quote me on this though.

You can't become a mod just by asking (through a application). They choose mods depending on:
1) If the rest of the staff likes them
2) The quality or their posts, not quantity

Rep has nothing to do with the equation :P
1) If the rest of the staff likes them
That is actually pretty irrelevant. It's a senior staff decision when hiring a mod, and you can't always love who you work with. However, if you can't handle yourself appropriately and you can't put your issues aside, a problem would stem from there.

You may deny it, and you have reason to, but you can't escape bias in these type of situations. Though it may not cause an effect on the outcome of who's hired, it's there, just beneath the skin of what's posted or said

Whether I personally like or dislike somebody, when it comes time to hire somebody that gets put aside. Of course everybody will think "Oh I like/dislike that person" but in reality it does not effect the outcome. So as I said -- it's irrelevant.

I agree with the second part of that. That is why I try to make quality post instead of just going around giving cruddy answers just to get 100 posts per day.

You seriously don't say in your head "Ugh, I really don't want to be working with this person" at all?

Did you read what I said?
I said of course somebody is going to think that if they don't want something, but personal disagreements and issues need to be pushed aside because they are a separate issue which should not and does not effect the process.

Let me rephrase myself...
You seriously don't take in your own personal opinions into account when hiring someone/someone's being hired? Hot damn. I really don't believe that, because that isn't the case in anything, but ok. If you're going to deny it, you're going to deny it.

And you're not listening to a word I'm saying, but whatever, that's just how it'll be I suppose.

I am. Are you getting what I'm putting out? Because you seem to be avoiding what I'm trying to ask. What I'm saying is that I really doubt that you put aside your personal opinions when you are hiring someone..as in, biased about said person, and that when it comes time to discuss in the mod area about the person, you'll try to cover that up with something that sounds logical, like you don't like their skills.. :P

I'm really not sure how many times I can say the same thing over and over again...

Believe it or not, it's up to you I guess. I don't see how I've avoided your questions at all... I've answered the same one three times now... If you have a problem with that then you can send me or Ronnie a PM about it!
