Forgiveness, for I know what it is to let pride induce hate.
Matching clothes, for I know what it is to have none.
Nice outfits, for I know what it is to be judged by what I lack.
A smile every day, for I know what it is to be unable to procure one.
Independence, for I know what it is to have no one to rely on.
Good memories, for I know what it is to be haunted by bad ones.
Food, for I know what it is to go hungry.
School supplies, for I know what it is to have a single binder.
Intelligence, for I know what it is to be ignorant.
Freedom, for I know what it is to be trapped.
True friends, for I know what it is to have few who don’t care.
Good teachers, for I know what it is to have to learn for myself.
Music, for I know what it is to be choked by silence.
Mentors, for I know what it is to not have anyone to look up to.
Colors, for I know what it is to look out at a bleak world.
