The cure is the prevention so use a shaving product that doesn't irritate your skin, a sharp/clean blade, wash after each stroke and shaving in the right direction.

Cool water or you could go to your chemist and get some over-the counter treatment or just ask them.

For the razor bumps-they come from shaving against the grain-use neosporin and Cetaphil to help. But from now on, get a hair remover like Nair, and use it, it will get rid of the hair and keep it away longer, and no razor bumps or anything. Its what i use.

Use aloe, if you can, get the pure stuff, the lotion has alcohol in it which will burn....

To answer your question to if you have razor burn, put lotion on which helps the irritation. Now, to give you some tips to not get razor burn. Alright, yes you got to put shaving cream on to moisturize the hair, perhaps wet the hair and then apply the shaving cream (Let it kinda soak in for a little bit). Then do Small and Slow strokes with the razor. Make Sure to Wash Off the Razor after every stroke. Sometimes you may have to go over the same area more than once. If you go fast and dont wash off the razor much, then thats what causes the irritation. So, take your time. Yeah, wash off to get nice and clean. You can, but I only do if I was to get razor burn, but you could put some lotion on after the shave. Thats optional though. Anyways, basically just do small and slow strokes, and wash the razor very frequently and you should be fine.

Practice makes perfect. I've gotten good enough to where I don't have any itch after and rarely have razor burn.

All the advice above is good. One of my friends told me that if you put shampoo on the area right after you shave it doesn't burn or itch at all. I haven't tried it yet though.

I would also suggest using a moisturizer afterwards. It helps to minimize the itch and prevents the skin from feeling dry.

I use lots of shaving cream and it seams to work well... and if its really long when you shave it try using electric clippers first and shave the short stuff
