How come everybody always says "alcohol and drugs"?
Alcohol is just as bad of a drug as a lot of the others..
Or would you not count alcohol as a drug?

Alcohol is definitely a drug, but when people talk about "alcohol and drugs" they mean alcohol (being a legal drug) and "drugs" being recreational, illegal ones.

I think it's because really they are both drugs, but with different names and shit. I think alcohol can be defined as a drug because it's a substance that impairs your thoughts and/or actions, and both drugs and alcohol do that.
Ironically i'm drinking beer while i'm typing this, i've been drinking that shit all day :P

I always thought because alchohol is a fluid and can be orally admitted. Drugs are solids. But I think it's because alchohol is legal while drugs are not.

Alcohol is most certainly a drug, regardless of its physical properties. A drug (in short) can be described as a substance that alters your mental state, and alcohol can definitely do that.
I believe people use the reference "alcohol and drugs" to distinguish the two between being harmful and not harmful. Even though alcohol is more harmful than some illegal substances.
Alcohol is also widely known as not being a drug, simply because it is legal. So when people reference the two together, alcohol is always put in a different category.

i fucking hate it. Probably because its legal, but its still a drug and one that does a lot more harm then some recreational drugs. I had an ex drug user tell me it was more difficult for him to quit alcohol then it was for him to quit heroin, his words not mine. Alcohol is a lot worse then atleast half the drugs that are illegal -worst is its socially accepted and legal so a lot of people underestimate its harm

Alcohol is a drug, but typically when we talk about legal substances we use the full name (note:alcohol, cigarettes and drugs). Drugs is a term often associated with the illegal side.

I don't want to get off topic but heroin is WAY harder to drop then alchohol. Because its both mentally and physically addicting. Meaning your body needs it. Once you are addicted your body actually needs it too stay alive. It is 100 times worse than alchohol. I think you're facts are messed up. :what:

First off anything can be psychologically addictive and second i think you need to get your facts straight because alcohol IS physically addictive. What i said was someone else's experience, which is totally objective, i never stated it as fact.

Alcohol is perfectly legal and accepted.
"Drugs" is usually referring to anything illegal, from party drugs, to hardcore stuff.

Personally it should be lumped in with the rest, alcohol is terrible for your body and can ruin lives yet its socially acceptable.

Alcohol is definitely a drug. It's a depressant, to be exact. Personally, I think the reason people say "drugs and alcohol" is because a lot of people honestly just aren't aware of the fact that alcohol is a drug.
