You need to think about what you'd rather happened in the future; have people take the piss for wearing briefs, but continue to wear them or wear underwear that most other people are wearing (probably boxers/boxer briefs) and not have people taking the piss. It's your choice.

As for the erection: Getting random erections is a perfectly normal part of puberty and getting them at any time is nothing to be ashamed about, it's just inconvenient that you happened to get one when you were in such a revealing and vulnerable situation. There's not really a lot you can do to prevent getting a random erection in the future, the only certain way of limiting the likelihood of other people seeing is actually limiting the amount of time you're in your underwear.
