After working on my weight for a few months, I have finally reached my goal of losing 20lbs! I started doing some cardio along and along at the beginning of summer, started drinking tons of water and watched how I ate. Then I started working out regularly and cutting my food portions and done that for a while. When I first started at the beginning of summer, I weighed 150lbs. Now I weigh 130lbs. Now its time to start back working out to build up some muscles, haha :D

WELL DONE!!!!
In my opinion this is the ideal way to approach it too, getting the base fitness and weight sorted before starting on weights (makes it easier to monitor loss of body fat without confusing it with gain from muscle mass, also quicker to burn fat from cardio than with weights so better motivation to keep going etc).
Don't know what you plan to do but as general advice make sure that whatever else you work out, you work on your core so you have the strength and support there, and don't neglect your legs (eg include squats).
Good luck.

Haha, Thanks guys! I plan on doing some ab workouts, which is why I wanted to lose some weight. I was on a schedule doing 20 mins of cardio, 30 crunches, 1 minute of planking, and 10 push ups everyday. Then, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I would do an 8 minute ab workout of different exercises. I plan on starting back doing this again.

And keep pushing yourself - you'll get more gains in muscle mass if it is really hard by the end of each exercise. As you get used to it, you'll just plateau and be maintaining what you've got.
So you could consider extending the duration of your abs routine, but you will also need to start adding more resistance (essentially trying 'harder' techniques, which might eventually mean working on an incline and/or holding weights to your chest).
Just my 2p based on what's worked for me.
