Er? How about Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd made it famous - its a simple tune but you can make it as difficult as you want by adding notes and transitions to the original tune.

are you playing acoustic or electric?

"Sixteen Saltines" by Jack White

"Otherside" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers

"Total Revenge", "Died A Jew", by Say Anything

just about any of Green Day's songs

"I like It" by Foxy Shazam

"Love You No Matter What", "Slowing Down (Long Time Coming)", and "She Loves Me So" by Anthony Green

"Someday" by The Strokes

^Those are all pretty simple, fun still fun to play.

good luck!

If you're looking for some quite well known ones, I'd say:
"Wild Thing" by the Troggs
"Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple
"Come as You Are" and "Smells Like Teen Spirt" by Nirvana
And last but not least "Wonderwall" by Oasis

As for how to read tabs, http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/lessons/for_beginners/how_to_read_tabs.html should help.
Anyway, once you can read tabs the tabs database on that site should keep you swimming in the things.

First you should learn the tempo, and rhythm by listening to the songs :P if you just jump into a song it can be quite confusing. Do you have an acoustic or electric?

i don't play guitar, i play the bass. i have a double bass borrowed from the school, but saving up for electric one so i can play rock songs. but yea nearly any rock song would do. but learn the basics of reading music first, so you don't have to look at fingering charts and you can just read notes
