I have borderline traits. The doctors are reluctant to diagnose me with BPD because I'm underage, but I've checked the DSM and if I was older I would probably be diagnosed with it in a heartbeat.

Yeah it's an idiotic unwritten rule. Basically a lot of very cowardly psychiatrists and therapists won't make the diagnosis in an underage person because it could potentially make the parents look bad. So instead these idiots put off treatment for several years until you're an adult, so your parents aren't seen as being the ones to blame. Naturally this makes your symptoms much worse, as you have to go years without the necessary treatment

I have the idealizatoin/devaluation swings, identity disturbance, impulsivity (spending, my ED,) self-harm and suicidal behaviours, emptiness and rage.

Amen to this. Not like my parents need help looking bad... and it is so stupid.

Actually psychologists and therapists don't diagnose BPD in teens because oftentimes their personalities are still changing, and they think that waiting until they are an adult will give them more of an idea if it's really a personality disorder or if it's just a changing personality.

And there are some teens who are diagnosed with BPD, I was diagnosed a few months ago after I had two long hospital stays for suicide attempts. My therapist was reluctant to diagnose me at first but she's pretty positive that that's what I have, especially after I was discharged from the hospital. But I'm currently in the process of assessment for schizophrenia so my diagnosis might change soon.
