Talk to people, make new friends, find clubs you would be interested to join in.....

Then if you're just transferring to a larger public school, it's not going to be much different. Sit with people, start small talk, things like that!

Just never be shy.. I'm not saying be loud or obnoxious, but people are generally drawn to those who appear self-confident and not shy.
