I think I have a friend that is losing touch with reality.
He has had depression his entire life and recently had gone even more downhill. His perception of himself is so warped. He feels like he is worth nothing to the world and has no self-worth, he doesn't like himself, he wants to die.
And he'll have these episodes about once a week that are him collapsing and crying for hours during which he proclaims that he is "going insane" and "not right in his head" and should just die.
He thinks he is a burden to everyone who cares about him and that everyone who cares an inch about him is wasting their time. He always feels guilty about people caring about him, because he thinks he doesn't deserve anyone to like him because he's just "messed up".
He told me today that last night he thought about killing himself.
Has anyone been diagnosed with psychotic depression? Any experience with symptoms like this?
I think he needs professional help and I want to help him get it, but he doesn't think he can be helped at all.
Please help!

Morgan I just want to hug you lol I respect you and admire you. You are a true friend and I'm very very happy that you're helping him with his struggles because my friends didn't care about me, not a single bit until I went to the pavilion -.- I'm sorry that I'm not much help because I know what he's going through and no matter how hard people tried, I just couldn't be happy. Hopefully someone will come along and shed some light, I just wanted to tell you that you're a true friend, and those are very rare. Good luck.

I'm so sorry that he feels that way. That's terrible; no person should feel they are worthless and that they should die. You really are a good friend ^^ I hope you stick with him to the end. I know you tried convincing him already and it didn't work, but keep trying, from different approaches. (ex: one sweet, one more harsh?) There's a chance you could get through.
Well, unless you are comfortable with telling an adult, i won't tell you to do that because I hate talking to adults about my problems. I think you should call the professional help people, talk to them about your friend, and see if they could arrange something. Even if your friend hates it and doesn't want to "trouble them with his worthlessness" make him go somehow. I'm sorry I'm really useless with this stuff :( Best of luck! I hope your friend understands soon that he isn't worthless!!!

I went through this and i wish i had someone like you to help me. Just spend as much time as you can with him and make him feel happy and make him feel normal like everyone else. When this was happening to me I just wanted to hang out and feel like everyone else. Go places with him and have fun he'll feel like hes not worthless hopefully. Everyone else is different though. Please keep us all updated on how he is. I really wish the best for him and you are great to seek help for him.
