Anyone doing NaNoWriMo this year? This will be my first year! I was starting a new novel but then I saw NaNoWriMo and thought it would be good motivation to actually finish something I start. :P

I'm writing a sci-fi dystopia novel.

I'll. Third attempt for me, and maybe 2nd success. This year, I'll head to a detective story of some sort.

Worst thing my teacher ever made me do. I hate writing. I made it though.

Never have done it. But I tried last year. I think I'm going to focus on school and do NaNoWriMo when I have the time, whether it be next year or after college.

Just signed up, I've never done this before. I wonder if I'll finish :D

EDIT: I'm writing a sci-fi dystopia novel.

I also want to do something along dystopia, not sure exactly what yet, but that's part of the fun!

EDIT 2: Their site is exponentially slow. Are they being DDoS'd?

Wondering if I should do this. I'll check the site later today. I'd do a surreal erotic thriller novel.

^ That's the last thing you should be thinking about! :P

Remember the object is to forget everything you usually do. No editing, no staring at a blank document for an hour trying to think of the best way to start. The point is to just write. You can deal with how horrible your story is in December. :3

For those who have started, word counts? I'm getting about 2k a day (4052 is the count), I'm trying to pace myself because I know I'll just write a third of it in the first week and get bored. I'm shooting for more than the 1667 words/day so I have a little room to procrastinate (I'm trying not to but I know I may crack, I might as well be a professional procrastinator) but not use too much of my time and make it feel like a chore. At our kick-off party on Wednesday night, we all got at least 1.2k (highest number was 1.7k) in eighty minutes so it would only take at most two hours to do the 1667 if you're writing the whole time, it's really that simple. 50k in a month sounds scarier than it is. You just need to make the commitment to do it every day.

It's the traffic. It was a little slow before November, I was confused at first because I have an awesome computer, less than super wireless but it's always faster than the site was loading. Then when we were at our party, the site completely took a shit, off and on issues now that it's started.

This will be my fifth year. I've finished twice with 50k and 55k respectively. This year will be an attempt at 100k. I just decided to start today so I have 7k to spit out tonight with no plot in mind. Heh, I usually go with the improvised approach to NaNoWriMo.

First year I did it, I pulled off the last 10k on November 29th and 30th so it's totally possible to be a massive procrastinator like I am. Good luck guys.

Holy mackerel. I only have about 350 words, I'm never going to finish!

I started after I posted this. I'm almost at 3k but I'm severely behind. I have another 7k to write tomorrow alone. This is going to be a long weekend, heh. Thankfully I have thought up a half-decent plot.

EDIT: Oh look, it's tomorrow.

"Words Written Today 8,110"

Can I just fall on my face and go to sleep now?

I'm already at 10k.

Ended today with 10179 :3 Based on where I am in the story, I won't be able to stop at 50k. Not that I mind, of course it was originally meant to be on the higher end of the spectrum, though I don't know whether it would be YA or Adult. It's just more stress!

I think I'm working toward 15k tonight but I'm utterly exhausted. Nice job, Rith.

I just validated my novel! :D

First year of NaNoWriMo: Success! And my story has to be one of the most magical ones I've ever written.

Ain't nobody got time for that!

Sorry. Couldn't resist. Anyway, I didn't have the time, patience, nor energy to write all that. Unless there was money involved. But I take a creative writing class so maybe one day I can participate :P

I tried last year, but school got in the way and I didn't finish. I think I'm gonna try again next year. Last year my story was on a not so utopian society which after years without sickness has a plague and one man spends his life looking for the cure after the girl he loves is the first to die.

You get five free paperback copies of your book.

And it's 1.6k a day minimum, took me three hours on the days I had writer's block.
