Is anyone else, like me, an only child? It makes me lonely sometimes.

I am an only child. I am pretty much lonely all the time. I have few friends and don't go out much.

But I find it funny when people thinks I am spoiled or privileged or something because I am the only child.

I have a sister but I've not spoken to her for months even though we live in the same house, trust me having siblings isn't always what it's cracked up to be. For some it's great others its hell. I'd rather be an only child if I'm honest.

Hi Adam,

Yes I am. But I live in a neighborhood where there are so many kids that I never have felt bothered by it too much. Sometimes a little.

What does get to me sometimes is when I hear people talk about the great times they had with their brothers/sisters....I realize that I've missed out on a lot.

Do you live out in the country where it's just you after school? That would definitely get me lonely.

I'm another only child. Kind of. I have a half-sister who I've never met, but that's a whole different story. Anyway, I honestly wish I had siblings that I could know. I always have hated being an only child--I was quite lonely as a kid, and still am to an extent. It's nothing I can change though, so I've learned to live with it.

I'm an only child as well.
I don't feel alone most of the time but I really wish I had one bigger brother or sister to guide me and give me his-her opinion about some stuff...

Sometimes I wish I was an only child. Out of all my siblings, only 2 live with me (3 on some weekends) and Im the oldest so i'm made to babysit all the time, its irritating.

Im not an only child because I have a brother, but he is 27 and Im about to be 16. He has been moved out of the house most of my life, so Im like an only child. Sometimes I wish I had another brother around my age to hang out with and such.

I'm an only child too, and it does get lonely, but that's what good friends are for :D

These pretty much sum it up...

I'd hate to be an only child :( as much as my siblings get on my nerves I'd miss out on some good times if they weren't ever here.

I was an only child until I turned 13...Im 16 now. I know what its like to feel lonely sometimes. But being an only child made my mom and I closer:)

I absolutely hate being an only child.
I feel so lonely. I have other siblings, but they are just my half-siblings, and I never talk to them anymore. All I have now is my dad, and he's no fun to talk to. :P

I have a younger sister, I don't think I'd care being an only child or having a sibling. Really it'd be easier being an only child, no one to take care of, no one looking up to you or asking you questions you're expected to know the answer to. Having a brother/sister isn't all it's cracked up to be, we used to be close but that changed.
I guess we all want we we can't/don't have.

I'm an only child and, like most things, it has its pros and cons. I have a very close cousin who's 7-8 years younger than me and she's the closest biological thing I have to a sibling. We might as well be; she still considers me her sister as she thought when she was younger, even though she knows that we're cousins.

Sometimes I'm deeply sad about beeing an only child.
When I'm at my friends and his little 10 year old brother gives him a big good night hug just beside me and afterwards my friend tells me how much he likes his brother and about all the good times they had, I don't know how to react and feel just lousy.
I think I would be a great brother!
But I can't prove it :(

I would hate to be the only child! I have a little sister and like yeah, we don't really get along with each other, but at least I have the presence of another sibling at my house, instead of just me. Plus I have two older sisters who are out of the house.

I'm an only child, and I live in a little subdivision where there are barely neighbors... and there are no kids around. I have cousins and all, but then they're in another country and I've never met them. If I were homeschooled, then I don't think I'll be able to meet kids my age. The bottomline is, I'm the only kid around and never really had playmates or childhood memories playing around.

It does get lonely sometimes. But you can't miss things you never had, so I don't really notice, since I don't have experiences of playing with other kids. Actually, it helped me a bit more mature than kids my age, since I've been always around adults.
