I met this girl about 3 months ago. On Friday she told me that her arm was hurting, I asked why and she told me that her mom had punched her. She said that her mom has untreated bipolar disorder and hits her or locks her in the bathroom room. I was going to tell my health teacher but I didn't. When I came back to school today. She had a broken arm. I ended up telling a teacher about the abuse but afterwards I went to the bathroom and cried for most of my lunch period. I feel so responsible for this, it's my fault that her arm is broken. I've been trying to stop cutting (I'm at 25 days), but today I couldn't handle it. I ended up self harming and now I have a bunch of bruises. This is all my fault, I don't know how I'm going to make it through the night.

Calm down honey, it isn't your fault at all. Yes, you had a certain responsibility to let someone know, but you are not her abuser. You are not the doctors who are leaving the abuser untreated. You are not to blame for this, so please stay strong tonight.

don't blame yourself for this girl getting hurt, and don't harm yourself over it. just go and talk to you health teach about it. just go and talk. if you can't write him/her a letter/email.

I can't I was shaking just telling him about the girl, let alone my feelings.

I don't know if I can :( What's going to happen tomorrow? What if her mom hurts her again?

first, calm down. how ever you do it, be it listening to music, walking, a hobby, but do it. you have to control the shaking. next, if you can't talk to him about the girl, find out what his teacher email is, and write an email to him, only about the girl who is getting abused. DO NOT write about your feelings. if he asks to talk about it in person, then it may also help to talk about your feelings, but only if he wants to talk in person. I know how hard it is to talk to teachers and adults about things like these.

you really really need to speak with someone so she doesnt get hurt anymore\
explain to the person who you speak with about her moms bio-polar and how shes being abused. this is very unfortunate and i am very sorry about your friend
i hope she gets help
what did she tell the teacher when they asked her about her broken arm
did she cover it up..... u need to speak with someone and help her out\its not your fault. you did nothing to cause this. her mom is the issue and needs some serious help.\
good luck.. and keep in your mind your being the better friend if you get her help.

Thanks :hug3:
I did tell a teacher and he reported it. I told him about the bipolar thing and her being hit and now she has a broken arm. I wasn't there when the teacher/social worker talked to her or if they even did

ok well whenever u feel comfortable try talking to your friend and see what happened and hopefully someone has dealt with the situation :) and there should be no more hurting from your friend or you.
