Homophobes. I've encountered a couple, but none that have told me, oh so gracefully, to burn in hell, as I am a faggot. I'm just..shocked that people are so rude. Why do they care who I love? I honestly don't get it..

Well, I'm not personally affected by homophobes, but when people talk trash about my sexuality (I'm still ITC) I just act like it doesn't bother me. I'm sorry you have to deal with that; it's frankly disgusting that people want to control others like that.

When I deal with homophobes? I tend to not give a fuck. They're all upset because I like guys. Oh no, the world's going to end. Except it's not. I tend to be nice to them or ignore them--I don't usually confront them, although I have on a few select occasions. Being gay, homophobes will be a fact of life. People are hateful, and they don't like what they don't understand. There are a lot of people out there, whether one realizes it or not, who have a strong dislike for gays. A hatred even. It's something we have to deal with, and that in all honesty, I find it best to just ignore. If they don't like me because I like guys, they can go fuck themselves. Why should I care what an ignorant arrogant hypocrite thinks of me? So that's generally the approach I take. You can't let them get under your skin, because they're just going to be a part of life whether we like it or not.

It so depends on the situation with bullies. Sometimes you can ignore them, sometimes you can to stand up to them, sometimes you run like hell and tell an authority figure.

In your situation I'd be tempted to just outwit them and show up their stupidity and hatred. I might reply "I don't believe in hell" and then show up their hypocrisy / ignorance if they started trying to argue from a religious position.

I just go by the scenario and I also don't believe in letting shit like that drop: if a guy is doing that regularly I wouldn't hesitate to report him, not because I'd expect him to get punished just on my saying something, but because that way if there was ever a fight or something the school has a record of it. The reason that is helpful is because teachers can then see a history of him being a bully so he's not going to get away with a lame excuse, and also it would look really bad on them if anything happened to me and there was all these signs showing they knew all along.

While I am not effected by this. I will say its really like any other type of hater/basher. If you let them know it gets to you then they will continue. If you ignore it, they'll stop as they'll see its a wasted effort.

If they don't stop then you do have methods of telling people in authority. However if do ignore it first and see what happens as if you ignore it then they will likely stop. However if it does continue then you should tell someone about it. As this type of bullying can eat you up inside.
