I always read that during puberty, the male body will become more muscular. The problem is, i have not noticed much muscle growth in me. Now i do realize that i am not going to go from "fish stick" to bodybuilder over night and that you have to work out a little But i have tried working out before and i just can not put any muscle on. Like for example, i have friends that started puberty the same time as me and they were pretty close to my body size. Last summer me and that same group of friends started going to the gym. By the end of summer, every one in our group but me and another boy had started to get a noticeable 6-pack. Me and my other friend barley started to get a 4-pack and we all did the same exact exercises. Why did/does this happen????????

I have a friend who was skinny and couldn't seem to put on muscle and over this summer he worked with a personal trainer and did ridiculous circuit training for like 2 hours like 4-5 days a week. It worked cause he's pretty ripped now but I think everyones body chemistry is just different and lots of people have to work really hard for the body they want while other people seem to just get lucky.

I've been training gym and swim club daily+ for over 2 years, but because my body type is endomorphic I don't gain bulk easily. I'm strong and toned, but not at all bulky. You may have the same body type.

Abs require a bit of muscle tone but most importantly for them to be seen you need to have very little belly fat. Naturally skinny people can show their ab muscles even if they aren't really that big. The good news is that you should find you can get a six pack relatively easily if you are on the skinny side, but you may simply have started with a bit more fat or smaller muscles.

If you guys were doing the same exercises that may be the problem in a sense: everyone has different strong points and weaknesses and just because a given weight is right for them doesn't mean it is right for you. You may not be loading your muscles enough to stimulate hypertrophy (muscle growth): it doesn't matter what your friends are lifting, you may need to add more weight or push yourself to do more reps.
