Whats your take on it and who is goth on VT if its okay to ask. Im curious, I find the whole sub culture interesting. And what is goth... How can you be considered one?

I think its a fun* look but its not for everyone. I prefer the scene kid look for myself because you are allowed colour :) I really like goth jewellery and accessories (the fantasy magic and dragon stuff), but then I wear some things like that anyway sometimes.

I'm all for any style that shows you've made some kind of effort, or that you have a sense of humour.

*I say 'fun' but of course, you have to be all moody and serious and spooky if you dress like that it seems.

Basically HE wears Makeup and dresses in Jeans and Jackets (Black) and has these boots he calls "goth boots", I Personally would not go goth, He also has a lip piercing and nipple piercing.
I Can get along with Goths But Im Not a big fan of the makeup and piercings

I wouldn't label myself as a goth, but I would say that I have a love for basically everything about the subculture, so I wouldn't be offended if someone else called me that (I would if they called me emo.) Here's a great explanation (http://beagley.livejournal.com/63277.html) which is pretty tongue-in-cheek, so take it with a grain of salt, but also accurate.

Okay, a couple of things I think I should clear up here :)
First of all, goths can wear color. In fact, it's pretty rare that you'll see a goth wearing all black. There's almost always something in there - red, purple, green, blue, even yellow. Some goths even wear all white or something, on the days when they do want to dress as obvious ambassadors of their subcultural affiliations. It's much more about how you see the world around you than how you dress. Also, being goth isn't about being gloomy. That's just an unfortunate stereotype. The idea behind goth is finding beauty in dark things. You are finding beauty in the world, albeit in different places. Many assume that because goths do not derive pleasure from the same sources as non-goths, that they do not derive pleasure from anywhere, and are therefore gloomy.

Its true I've seen some goths with a bit of colour which is a really nice effect against mostly black, but I've personally never seen a goth in the UK wearing more than a highlight, the main theme is always black.

Hehe well I blame my ignorance on the fact that I've only known try-hards or protogoths or watched the south park 'Raisins' episode :)

I had thought the whole subculture had been dead for awhile now.

I used to be. But it always correlated with my depression phases. Then I kinda grew up and now I dress what I call casual modern Victorian. I still have my colour limitations but I realized I was being stupid and I should wear any colour I want to, so at least I'm wearing 70% of the colours.

I get called goth frequently because I only wear black, I like skulls/clothes with skulls on them, ripped jeans and wear a load of dark eye liner. Personally I think the goth stereotype is stupid ( as well as emo, which I'm also called, but we won't go into that) why should people have to be stereotyped on what we wear? It just singles people out to be picked on.

I think Alex summed it up but I guess I fit the stereotype unfortunately, I'm just wearing what I feel most comfortable in and what I like. People should be able to put on a piece of clothing without thinking about the consequences it might bring.

I really really love Goth music. My two favourite bands are William Control and The Cure so :p

I have my fair share of Gothic clothes, and Gothic clothes and jewelery is all really pretty. I wouldn't mind being a Goth :p And I have my goGic days where I dress like a Goth, but I wouldn't say i'm a Goth really. Just a person with Gothic tendencies :p

But go look up steam-punks. They're fucking awesome. Described as "Goths that discovered the colour brown".

At least you mentioned couple of original Goth bands.

Now let us listen to Cassandra Complex.

I think certain people can 'pull off' the goth or scene look, not to say that anyone who wants to can't associate themselves with it. With certain girls it looks really hot, in my opinion. Guys too, I guess haha.

I wouldn't call myself goth, although I do listen to goth bands like The Cure, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, HIM and My Dying Bride (yeah, I called Evanescence goth. Deal with it). But I don't exclusively listen to goth bands.

I'm kinda the same way with my style. I incorporate certain parts of the 'goth' look into what I wear, a black jacket here, a studded belt there, black skinny jeans, black shirts, sometimes I'll straighten my hair. But not all at the same time.

I wouldn't label myself 'goth' or 'emo' or whatever, I just wear whatever I feel like.

I'm not a big fan of the goth style, but goth people are actually really awesome to hang out with and have nice personalities. They are not graverobbers who crawl out of satan's womb. Most of them.
I would take it as an insult if someone would call me goth. I hate to put a label on myself, as well as the others, although many have called me scene because of my hair and clothing.
