Psyciatric hospital

My therapist thinks i need to be put in a psyciatric hospital for my self harming and suicidal thoughts. Hes going to see if im any better next week and if not ill be taken there. Do any of you know what there like? i dont know what to expect

Im not a therapist, heck Im a freaking patient of one... But if they feel you should go, I guess you should. But Ive been in one, not as a patient and this is for US ones but normally its pretty calm in there, people visiting and patients walking around. People who work there are just dressed in normal clothes and are pretty friendly, I guess for someone going there it can be stressful and scary. But just be calm and youll be okay.

It's really not that bad. You will get used to it eventually, and since you're neurotic and not psychotic (I assume) you should be out of there pretty quickly anyway.

basicaly your cut off from the outside world
you have an eating schedule which i hated
they takr away your shoes and any clothes with strings
you cant bring any outside objects in(or they confiscate them)

i didnt like it and im never going back
so if i were you i would try and get better because depending on how "sick" they judge you to be your could be there for a week. 2 weeks. a month and so on
luckily me i was in there for 3 days for the same situation as you self harming
my life went upside down from there :(

I think that it really depends on where you live and partially on the hospital itself. When I were forced to be acutely hospitalized, they checked what I had in my pockets and they were going to check all the stuff I had in my bag but my dad said that he helped me pack the stuff since it was like 1am. x)

Anyways, so basically they just checked if I had anything that I could use to hurt myself (they didn't remove any strings and such though) and they also took my phone during the nights, but I could have it daytime.
