I agree with Duke if you're that concerned I would request a male doctor. No one would find that unreasonable. Just remember no matter who does it this is a regular part of a doctor's job and for them it's no big deal and just another day at the office. It's over quick and it's really no big deal. If you plan on playing any sports you need to get used to it because you'll be having physicals regularly.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't think of anything worse than being in that sort of situation with either of my parents.

OP: As a lot of the others have said, there's nothing to be worried about. This doctor will be a professional, there's nothing you can say or do (or that your body can do) that she hasn't seen before. Think of all the other guys that she examines, now think about how many of those get erections or are incredibly embarrassed to be in a situation like that. It means nothing to her.

Hey dude, it's cool I had my first one this year too and I was also freaking out about it. Just relax as much as you can. Just a couple of things - make sure parents leave. Doctor will probably check your junk and its mad awkward in front of a parent. If you're uncut be ready for doctor to retract your foreskin. I wasn't and got a boner when she pulled it back without warning. Also if you are getting shots make sure they're giving them to you in the arm and the tetanus shot goes into the arm you don't write or jo with. Its going to hurt for a while.
