I used to have a counsellor for cutting, he knew about two past failed attempts but i've tried again since and it's all i want to do now again. What will happen if i tell someone? I guess i really don't want locked up or put on meds...

If you tell someone then they will have to make a decision as to whether or not you are actually a threat to yourself, i.e. if you are honestly going to do it or merely want to but don't intend to. Usually, they will believe that you are a threat to yourself because they're better safe than sorry. Then they will take measures: your parents will be informed and they will make a decision as to whether or not to put you into a hospital until you "feel better" (which doesn't really do anything tbh)
Sorry, but that's what'll happen.

if they think your gonna hurt yourself and that your life is at risk they may put you in a hospital for a bit. ive been there done that... take it from someone whos been there its not all that great. i was in 3 for 3 days and i would look out the windows and wish how badly i could be out here and run around. being locked up in a cage is no fun
just get some help

It's a common misconception that they will 'lock you up' if you admit to needing help. If you tell them that you will commit suicide it is likely that they will put you into hospital just until you feel stable enough to go home. I think they'd definitely contact a therapist/psychiatrist to help you. It depends on who 'they' are and what you mean by that. Admitting to family members, friends, professionals? We'd really be able to help more if you gave us a little more information.

I can only say about my personal experience. No matter what I told my psychiatrist about killing myself etc, it wasn't until I actually made an attempt that they made any effort to hospitalize me. I don't know what it's like where you are, but that was what happened for me.

In any case, if you are feeling suicidal you need to get help, sweetie.
