Fuck green day. I want some bands like the sex pistols, flipper, black flag, etc.
I mean really. Have you seen the state of music? Sounds like robots making babies...
Nothing is gonna get better now, as far as music goes.

Don't bother taking initiative and going through sites like last.fm to find similar music. But hey, keep complaining; obviously that helps.

I've tried evrahting (Jamaican accent). I've gone as far as starting my own band with a couple friends and, hey, I've really enjoyed it. Seems as though nobody cares about anything but partying, fucking and getting high.

This complaint is kind of ignorant as far as complaints about the music industry go. I mean sure, crap bands are popular, but that doesn't mean that they're the only bands in the world. I'm sure you can find something that appeals to you by searching on the internet, and if you can't then you're not searching hard enough.
Today's popular music may never get better, but some of the less known bands certainly are.

part of the ignorant complaint that I forgot to include, was that I'm tired of getting made fun of for liking the less known bands.

Hold up, I'm confused. Do you want punk rock or not?

There's tons of great music being made all the time, and there's tons of shitty music being made. Doesn't mean it's all shitty. If pop or electronic music isn't your thing, cool. I just don't see a reason to write off all modern music.
I think people, rock listeners specifically, tend to get into a habit of living in the past (probably not the best term for it, but whatevs) I can't tell you how many times I've had vintage gear pushed on me in guitar shops. This might be just me, but half of the reason a lot of those older classic bands got so popular and respected was because they were pushing themselves and doing things in ways that were new and exciting.
I'm sure there were plenty of people complaining when punk first started getting popular. Doesn't mean punk ain't good.

I think people are just a little too complacent in how they get their music. It's not like the old days where all the music you could get was on the radio- You've got options now, and if you want to explore new things, the internet is the best place to get started. A quick search on last.fm or rateyourmusic will show you that punk, and many other 'dead' genres are still alive and kicking all over the place.
And seriously, don't count our your local music scene either. If I was able to find monthly punk shows back in my freshman year of highschool here ate home in the peachy-keen suburbs, so can you.

Punk is dead because people with no real musical talent but revolutionary thoughts now just throw their ideas out on the internet. But if you want, you can still find music with that kind of message. Sure, it may seem more 'mainstream' to you (meaning they can actually play instruments and sing and produce an album), but it's still there. Try Anti-Flag, Rise Against, Rage Against the Machine, Enter Shikari, Marilyn Manson, Every Time I Die, and Between The Buried And Me. Don't get me wrong, I love The Sex Pistols, The Clash and Black Flag (Henry Rollins is a boss) just like you. The difference between me and you is that I don't sit around complaining that there aren't any good bands any more, I go out and find music I like. Spotify, Turntable.fm and Last.fm are great places to start.
