View Full Version : How to make someone believe you are gay?

Hey guys, basically as the title says how can I make someone believe that I'm gay? I recently tried to come out to my best friend that I really love but he basically doesn't believe I'm gay! At first I sort of dropped it into conversation as though it was nothing big so I can understand he may have not believed me then, after this though I have sat down and seriously spoken to him and he still doesn't believe me.
I'm not sure if its the fact he doesn't believe me or the fact he doesn't want to. He has told me he would never be angry about anything and would always stick by me through anything but I'm not sure if he genuinely thinks I'm joking or if this is his way of coping.
If anyone has had an experience like this or anyone knows how I could make him believe me then your help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think theres really any way of convincing him, unless he sees you with (romantically or sexually) with another guy. You obviously know you're gay, and you told him. If he doesn't (want to) believe you, then so be it. Go about your life, with him as your friend. Don't hide being gay from him, in fact, make sure he sees it.
Anything will come with time.

i know the feeling
i tried to come out to my best friend and he was all like no your not gay... theres no way.. because at the time i was covering up my true identity and saying i didnt like gays and that i was disgusted by them.. but in all reality i wasnt i just didnt know that my bestfriend was also gay.. so it kinda made things better..
oh my bestfriend was female at the time when i came out(hes now undergoing gender reassessment)

..You don't. If he doesn't believe you, he doesn't believe you. Why should you have to prove it?

I have a feeling he is trying to deny the fact

My secret was out when one of my friends discovered the bookmarks on my laptop.
...I don't recommend this approach.

Send him pictures (possibly Photoshopped) of you making out passionately with a guy. If you did it right, he should be scarred for life. JK. but really, you already told him, so he's just in denial. Hopefully he'll come around.

I should add we have always joked about being gay together, like always hugging, holding hands, touching each other up and stuff. So maybe that could be to blame? We never really know when to take each other seriously which is fun most the time but really frustrating with something like this! Thanks for all your replies so far:)

LoL yeah the whole 'just kidding' thing really backfires sometimes.
Short of a dramatic gesture I think you are just going to have to be patient. Just 'normalise' it for him: start commenting on cute guys in the same way he might with girls, if he says "nice tits" just say "I wouldn't know" or something like that. Not subtle, but I don't think he needs 'subtle'.
Give him a few weeks to process it, he'll come round.

Thanks, I'll give it a go if he doesn't catch on soon I'm just going to think of something crazy to do so he will have to believe me:D hopefully it won't come to that though

Update: I finally got him to believe me tonight!:D he was really really supportive even better than I'd hoped for! I think it took a short while to sink in but he was exactly the same as he has always been with me after I told him! Thanks for all your help on this topic guys!
