Microsoft is set to take on Apple's iTunes, Amazon and Spotify with a new music service.
Called Xbox Music, the service will let people stream music to their computer, phone and games console.
There will be a free version with ads for computer users, or a paid version (£8.99 or $9.99 per month) with no ads for computer, phone and console owners.

I don't think it's going take off. It might get some attention amongst hardcore gamers and/or Xbox and Microsoft fans, but it won't last. Apple and every other company to ever make similar things have their roots dug down pretty deep, it'll be hard to get a foot in that side of the market, even with a big name.

Who thinks of music when someones says Xbox anyway?

I don't really think of music when someone mentions any sort of home theater/entertainment system. To me it feels like... Trying to sort through songs on an album with a D-pad. It seems silly to me. But I guess we're entering an age in the market when every device is expected to be able to do everything~

Well I can't say I care because I own a PS3 and we have vidzone a free app that allows us to get all the latest songs/music videos. I am happy with that service and anyway, xbox are trying to dominate the market at every angle. Which is most likely going to fail epically because lets face it. People generally go on Xbox to play video games and chat to mates, they already have an option to play music while gaming. I don't see this being any better as we have so many services that already allow music to computers, phones ect.
