Apparently I need to take medication for my depression (clinical), but I'm not sure if I want to take medication. Has anyone else here taken medication for their depression? If so, how did it go?

I've taken Cymbalta for my depression for a couple of years now. It's helped me quite a bit, and it's worked very well. Before that I took Zoloft which, because of my body chemistry, didn't work very well at all. I just became accustomed to it very quickly, so it didn't do much good in the end. It depends on what medicine and your body chemistry and how they interact just as much as anything, but it's worth a try at the very least.

I have been on multiple medications for anti-depressants. Some affect you more strongly than others and some are more negative than others. Just ask the psychiatrist what you can expect and if they don't work for you, there are alternatives. The only way to know what's going to happen to you in particular is to try them and see how they do because every person is different. Good luck.

I've been taking celexa for the past year. It works well for me, all my symptoms went away within the first month, but I had to keep taking it to prevent it from coming back. There were some side effects, mainly headache and nausea, but they went away after the first week. The only downside is if I miss a dose, in which case there are some side effects.
