Ive been meaning to post this
Well a long while ago, my xbox broke, not entirely. When i turn it on the little Xbox circle thing(Turn-On Button) that is usally green is now red, and the disk tray wont come out. It also goes to some message when i press the turn-on button, i Dont know if it really matters, it just saying like something if wrong with it and get it serviced. But i wanted to see if there was away of getting it work without having to take it somewhere

sounds like "Red Rings of Death" actually a very frequent problem with xboxs, probly the most frequent problem. Iam not sure whats the cause without searching but i believe its something to do with it overheating or something with thehard drive, so basically no u cant fix it by your self. How long ago did u buy it? is it still under warranty?

If you get the 3 red lights, it's the ring of death, you basically have a very expensive, very useless doorstop! But if it's not that take it back to where you got it from or ring Microshit (Microsoft).

okay thats called the circle of death
it basically means ur box is fucked
according to XBM if your at that stage and have like nothing left to lose then you can try something drastic
disconect it from the tv
turn it on and wrap it in towels so it gets really hot
supposedly it melts the soder and can fix minor loose wiring
other then that
u need to buy a new one
that happened on my original and it happened to my buddies 360 premium
we both ended up having to get new ones

actually they're just refurbished ones, not new and they usually will die again....

are you sure ive got the ring of death, My Disk tray just wont open and the green circle just keeps flashing from red to green, it doesnt stay on red. If i do
Does that covering the xbox with a towel thing work, if so how long do i have the towl over it
Does this circle of death have to do with Hardware failure or something melting or what?

I dont have a xbox 360, i only have a normal xbox, It seams when people say about there experience of the red light of death, its always on a 360 where just 3 of the lights are red, where as on a normal xbox it only has the one green light
Does it happen on a normal xbox

Yes but i got my xbox like 5 years ago, and like king said mine is a normal Xbox not a 360. So I dont think it would be the ring of death. So im guessing its useless now, that doesnt matter anyway my b'day is in a month and ill be getting a 360. Just hope I dont get the ring of death

Yeah, definiately the "Red Ring of Death". Even though I don't have one, I read it somewhere and you have to take it to get serviced. I think Microsoft extended the warranties on all their Xboxes due to an "unacceptable number of repairs".

If your feeling adventurous you can get some hex screwdrivers open up ur box, replace the dead hard drive, then using your computer install a fresh xbox dashboard using a modified linux distro. Though since your gonna get a 360 i guess this may be a waist of time:D, i had to do this a wile back when i broke my xbox modding it. Though serveral months later it short circuited so if you wish to be generous you could mail me you dead xbox and i could have some fun with it.;)
