Okay awhile back, after a football game, I noticed the bone that run below the thumb along the palm was seriously bruised. It was so bad, for about two days I had diffficulty picking up objects. But I dismissed it as a minor battle-wound, and kept going like I usually do. Well, it permantely had a light bruise on it for the remaining week and a half of football. Now, whenever I grip an object tightly, I feel slight pain in my hand. My mom had broken her hand in a simialr fasion, is it a possiblity that I may have broke/cracked and then healed the wrong way?

A greenstick fracture is not only possible, but also pretty likely by the sound of it. You should get that checked out by a doctor.

Since this was a while back that the injury happened, it's very possible that you fractured or broke it and it healed back wrong, or even may be still broken. The bruising remaining as long as it did is an indicator of a more serious injury than just a "battle wound." I would highly recommend you go see a doctor about it and inform him of what happened, and see if there is anything he can recommend doing about it.

Can I ask, can you pick up a bottle of water? I ask this because my mother fell on ice and broke a small bone in her hand called the schaphoid. It's the bone you use to grip. If you experience pain while trying to lift a bottle of water, it is more than likely that this bone may have been broken/fractured.

No, it just hurts whenever I grip objects like footballs or large objects and grip tightly.

I'm sorry but i wouldn't really know what to say but it sounds like it might be pretty severe. i think you should probably consult a doctor. :D

It still sounds to me that your may have broken/fractured the bone I mentioned in my last post. My friend also did the same thing and he couldn't grip anything.

Hmm well I'm going to talk to my doctor I think this week. I'll ask him about it.

What's "A while".
Bones take a long time to heal, how did you hurt it?
Also if it's still discolored try get a pic up.

I hurt it about a month and a half ago, and it took about 3 weeks for the bruise to fully go away, and it still is a little painful.
And I hurt it by run blocking in a football game, which is basically when you try to hit someone on the front of their shoulder pads with the flat of your hand repeatedly.
