Ode to Autumn

While the days begin to grow cold,
As the leaves change their color,
They release magic untold,
Once you’ve read beyond the cover.
You remember the feelings, the joy, and scent.
The full moon brings October;
Oh how it’s all so redolent,
And for the first time you feel a shiver.

Then you begin to remember
How the colors burn across the sky,
Things that happen before December,
Like a feather, do not let them blow by.
For joy, your heart yearns-
Something not only in books,
Watch—that same magic churns
Laughter coming from holes, crannies, and nooks.

The year moves on,
What a time to be living,
You see fire at each dawn.
‘Tis a time of thanksgiving,
The grass has turned gold
With the wind, the trees dance,
The chill is so bold,
In the fall air, the horses prance.
Aren’t you glad, what a marvelous show!
Enjoy every second, make it last,
Please, stay on this side of the rainbow,
Autumn goes by far too fast.
