Press statement:

Another chapter of the Nightwish story has ended today. Nightwish and Anette Olzon have decided to part company, in mutual understanding, for the good of all parties involved.

In recent times it has become increasingly obvious that the direction and the needs of the band were in conflict, and this has led to a division from which we cannot recover.

Nightwish has no intention of cancelling any upcoming shows, and as a result we have decided to bring in a substitute vocalist starting in Seattle 1.10.2012. Her name is Floor Jansen from The Netherlands (ex-After Forever, ReVamp), and she has graciously stepped in to help us complete the Imaginaerum world tour.

We are all strongly committed to this journey, this vehicle of spirit, and we are sure that this will lead to a brighter future for everyone.

We forever remain excited about the adventures to come, and we are extremely proud of the two beautiful albums and the wonderful shows we shared together.

- NIGHTWISH & Anette Olzon

Just check Nightwish's facebook if you need some proof.

Wasn't sure if it was old news, just thought I'd share in case you're living under a rock or something.

I'm not a huge fan, so to be honest I could care less, but Annette sang some good songs, so... yea. Here's hoping the new singer they hire is just as good or better.

Well, this is... weird. I really hope that they find a new "proper" vocalist, so that they can keep coming out with albums.

Thanks for sharing.

Daang. Their music became something I would listen to when Anette joined--I liked the music but did not like the way Tajra sang. Sad news here, thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I saw this the day it was posted. This one wasn't as hard for me, but I found it very sudden. Tarja's of course was pretty evident it was coming. Marcello really fucked everything up. But hers was so much more emotional.

I'm curious if it has anything to do with her hospitalization? It's strange, all of a sudden she leaves a concert to go the hospital then a day or two later she left.

Part of me is actually sad she didn't leave a month ago. I love Floor Jansen! That woman has vocal chords and lungs I would kill to have. Would have been awesome to see her sing live at the concert I went to.

Anyone else secretly hoping they'll love her so much that they offer her a permanent spot?

I really don't understand you Anette fangirls. The band has its roots, trunk, and branches in the "symphonic metal w/ classical female vocals" niche. Anette is a single branch on the tree of Nightwish.

Well, I don't understand the Tarja fangirls either. Anette wasn't the best idea with rabid Tarja fans but Anette is part of Nightwish too. You know, there are four other members of the band, and any of them leaving would be more devastating. Of course, there simply would be no Nightwish without Tuomas. And this is proven by Tarja's sub-par solo career.

I'm not a girl...

And I just didn't like the way she sang, and because singers stand out so much, I just don't listen to their old stuff. It's entirely opinion.

Didn't call you a girl. I was commenting on the feud in general.

You said 'fangirls', hence why he thought you called him a girl

Couldn't think of a more appropriate term for the specific type of fan I was describing.
