does anyone here wrestle and by that i mean freestyle or greco-roman wrestling. not the everyday wrestling with friends. if so, do you do it at school or at a gym. how long have you been doing it.

well i am on my school's wrestling team, so i do freestyle wrestling. started doing it this year. everyday expect Sundays we have practice. 2 hours during off season and then 4 hours during season.

i have been on a school wrestling team since i was 12. i really love it, especially all the body contact. it's a great way to get fit too.

I'm going to wrestle this year for the first time ever. I may only know 2 or 3 moves, but I've got alot of strength, so I hope it goes good for me! :D

if the place you are going to wrestle is a private gym, they will most likely have a private instructor, but if it is at a school, the it is the coach's job to teach you new moves. and strength is not the only thing you need. you also need flexibility. i have become more flexible through wrestling.

You'll need more then strength, wrestlingalsohas science to it which can nullify you're strength if the person knows what they are doing.

as zenos said, a person with better technique can beat some one with a lot of strength. as one of my team's coaches says. same concept as quality over quantity, except, change the two to technique over strength.

i highly doubt that you should lose loads of weight. is you are around 225 to 235, then you could drop down to the 220 class, what i am doing(i weight 228) but if you are over that, then just stick with it, because you are then in Heavyweight, which is one of the easiest classes, as everyone uses the same moves.

also had another tournament yesterday:
semi-finals match: LAAvKXCHau8
finals match: uffArqNKNfY

What I mean is lose fat, I would prefer to be in a heavyweight division, but I have low self esteem, and Im fat, so Im building up muscle and losing some fat first
If you catch my drift.

dude... You could lose weight.. But its a big thing for your sklin to tighten up... And that takes really looong you know.. If you want to really build up your body quickly a gym is the best place... Otherwise do cycling loads... Swimming and trekking will help too... Watch your diet.. Eat loads of green stuffs!! All the best!!

if you are talking to me, i weigh 228lb, dropping down to 220lb. after that and once i turn 16, i will start working on muscle. and in wrestling you don't have to be a muscle man like you do in other combat sports, like WWE(which is not even a sport) you just have to be apple to take someone down and defend your self. i xc mountian bike for 6 to 8 hours once a week, i swim a ton and i try to go trekking as often as possible, about once a month. and i eat health. i only eat fast food one special occasions, such as birthdays and stuff like that. trust me, i am working on converting the fat to muscle. but in the heavyweight class you get alot of fat people. and i mean really fat, like 270+

No Wrestling teams in Asian schools, but I do MMA and wrestling is a component and I have classes about 2-4 hours a week on wrestling, not as much as those in the states tho. But I do other martial arts too like Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

don't give up after one match. was it both your times wrestling? cuz when i joined, there was only one person i could wrestle, the team captain. and i lost, still lose, but less. But when i am in a real match i always win.
