Right now I don't really know who I want to be when I grow up, and dad keeps yelling at me saying I've got to learn a permanent skill; he wants me to be an electrician. And no there is no way on earth I'm being an electrician.
Help? Anything would be nice.

Do something that everyone else doesn't want to do. What kind of grades do you get in school? Planning to go to uni?

What are some things you like to do? Any talents?
I found this test (http://www.thewhocarestrust.org.uk/who-cares-town/career_matcher.php) where you can answer questions then see what careers might suit you.

I don't really have any job related hobbies..I'm just slightly worried because I know if I don't get my mind set out on a job or career I'll end up being a soldier, which I don't really mind doing; my dad does. Personally I'd like to work at like a shop..Be a shop owner, sell stuff. Dad says I need a skill though I can use like electrician.

Grades..Roughly D's to C's, I'm just worried. I don't know who I want to be, I'm lost. Everyone's got a general idea of what they want to be when they're older and I don't. When I think of who I want to be when I'm older it's blank, I don't want to suicide, deep down I don't want to be a soldier. It's just plain blank I'm lost in confusion, I can't think of any job-related things that relate to my hobbies, don't really have many hobbies.
Any of you ever played Katawa Shoujo? And did Rin's route? It's like that, I'm confused, lost. Gah.

I graduated highschool a year and a half ago, and I (nor most of the friends I have in town) don't even know what I want to do yet. You don't really need to decide right now, kiddo, but I feel compelled to give you this piece of advice.
Work on your grades. You're only 14, and you've still got time to turn things around. You might not know what you want to do right now, but the better your grades are, the more choices and opportunities you'll have down the line. You've got a lot to face in the coming years of your life, and you're getting into the period where the choices you make now are going to shape who you can become when you're older. Don't just settle for getting grades that are "good enough" for what vaguely interests you now.
Hell, my school's valedictorian is a car mechanic now.
Please, work on your grades. It might be difficult (I know, I was a lazy little shit in highschool) but only good things are going to come from it.
Good luck!

Right now it is getting pretty difficult and stressful. I'm not worried about getting a job, because I'm good at improvising something up. But my Dad keeps yelling at me, about everything. I think it's because he's quitting smoking he's been getting more and more shouty and stressful. I do work on my grades as hard as I can, and I wouldn't settle for a "good enough" I'm trying to get the best I can.
I think it's just my dad, he keeps yelling at me and stressing me out; I have a thing against yelling, I hate being yelled at. Usually I'd just let it go through one ear and straight out the other but recently it's been getting worse and worse, I'm not sure.
I could use a little rant x.x. Maybe I'll make a thread later or something.
Thanks for the support, Eliza!

Choosing a job is no easy task. I would say you really need to know a task that you would enjoy doing everyday. There is a quote that says "Find a job that you like and you would never need to work" If you like what you are doing you will find yourself working even if the pay is not that high but the fulfillment will be tremendous.

Ik, I just don't know what I want to be, and with my dad nagging at me it just makes me so much more fucking stressful. He keeps yelling at me saying I'm gonna be an electrician or a plumber, or both. It's like he's picking my job for me. I don't want to be either.

My dad's an electrician, luckily he knew that wasn't where I wanted to go and has never even mentioned it to me. Not a bad job, puts food on the table, a roof over our head, me and my sister through private school and plenty of vacations and sports.
When I was your age I thought I had it all figured out. Where I wanted to go to college and what I wanted to do with my life. In my senior year of High School I switched between 4 different majors to apply for, and ended up at a school that is the total opposite of where I originally said, and in a major that is completely the opposite of my original thought.
Don't worry about it, your dad is quitting smoking, is stressed out from nicotine deprivation and is taking it out on you.

If it makes you feel better, the majority of the first two years of college is general education courses, so credits transfer into almost any major or concentration of your choice. At that point you should have a general idea of what you plan on doing.

It's just..Really stressful, it makes me feel like vomiting. It's like everything all clouds up on you; you've got people in your head telling you to be yourself and do what you want to do, but you don't know what you want to do, you don't know who you are. And then the other people telling you to be this and be that, stressing you out over everything. Gah everything is just building up.
I'll end up doing another rant soon.

Find a job that your really passionate about. Me personally I would like to be a politician. Your dad is just looking out for you. He wants to find a job that will last and something that lasts. For example a doctor;, everyone just sick and who will they see? exactly.

I just, I dunno I really don't. Maybe people could post idea's of jobs or what they want to be to inspire me on something? Or something? It's just really stressful, it is kinda my fault, but it's still stressful.

I want to become a commercial airline pilot because I love to travel and ever since I was a kid I wanted to fly. I found out that to become an airline pilot requires an incredible amount of dedication and the willingness to learn and take constructive critisicm. I was like you before in sense I thought I had no skills. You just need to explore your options, maybe make a list of things you may want to be in the future and research each one, if you find one you don't like cross it off. I know a site called career cruising, it has tons of jobs, and testimonials from people working in that field. You need a password to get onto the site so pm me if you want it.
