He also wants to know what's comfortable during gym, he doesn't want to wear something that will be annoying or itchy when he has to do certain things in gym. I say where whatever you want. I wore briefs in 6th grade, and then in 7th and in 8th I wore boxer briefs. I haven't had to change for gym yet, but I'll probably still be wearing boxer briefs, maybe boxers. No one in my school really cares, and it briefs and boxer briefs haven't really bothered me during gym. It's no big deal, as everyone else said, just wear whatever you're comfortable in.

boxers or boxer briefs. boxers because i personally say they are the most comfy. But boxer breifs have more support incase of constant erections. I wear boxers for pe but you should try both and see what you like better

Just my opinoin. But boxers seem pretty comfortable, most of the part being theyre very loose and your Lower-regions has plenty of air. Just remember to "tuck" them down so theyre not bunched up.

Yeah kind of sux, but you get used to it and the "jock check". It's not a big deal now to wear a jockstrap for class. And also for sports team, guys have to wear a jock or a jock with a cup for contact sports. You get to used to getting seeing each other naked when changing and afterwards in the showers. Showers are required after gym class and after sports for all grades 9-12 at my school.
