Ok I'm 16 and this girl is 15, and we are planning to muck around a bit together, we are both very inexperienced and don't plan to go the whole way. so do I need lube just for "mucking around"? and if yes , would KY jelly be suitable?

No need for lube....your bodies will handle that for you.
