So I downloaded one of those FREE computer searchers called Advanced System Protector and it searched my computer. On one of the things it showed Stealth-web-page-recorder (then in smaller letters it said) Surveillance Tool

Did my parents do this? What does this mean?

What is a FREE, SAFE program I can run on my computer that will remove any keyloggers?

Yet, when I do another Keylogger detector, it says No system wide monitoring modules detected
So the first one I said, said there was keyloggers, but it wanted me to pay money to fix it. The second one said there was none detected, and it was free for 10 days, and it also said This program will help you to find and remove keyloggers and other spy software.

Keylogger Detector uses an original scanning algorithm, which finds all files that perform a system-wide activity monitoring.

Being based on the bahaviour of spy software, the detection algorithm finds even unknown keyloggers. But because it also shows the useful system-wide monitoring tools, you must review the files detected and take the final decision.

Which do I believe?

This is what it is used for:
Stealth Web Page Recorder is a*simple surveillance utility for*web page recording.*This program will be useful if you want*to keep an eye on web mail messages your kids visit in IE. It can also record the contents of*password protected pages.
Stealth Web Page Recorder stores the text of web pages visited and lets you easily*review*the saved information later. It has a convenient user interface, similar to the History bar in the Internet Explorer.

so my parents have been monitoring me?

Maybe. They could have put the program on your computer, but never used it.

You should believe whatever you think is the most believable. If you are very concerned, simply use a different browser, using the "private browsing" option if desired.

Your parents are hopefully not out to get you as you have made it seem lately. They simply want you to be safe. If they had something to say about your browsing habits, they'd have made that obvious to you, and you should have noticed by now.

This SWPR thing doesn't sound like a keylogger - keyloggers log keystrokes themselves, it sounds like this thing logs web pages. As a result it makes sense that a keylogger detector would not detect it.

It's also possible this is some sort of virus infection (rather than some sort of parental conspiracy, but I don't know your parents so I can't say for sure.)

Trying Microsoft Security Essentials might be worth your time, as would Spybot S&D and a few others (e.g. RKill maybe). The only other solutions I know of off the top of my head are more drastic (e.g. reinstall OS)

Usually the sites tht want u to pay them are just interested in getting your credit card info. That can be VERY bad if its not a reputible site. If you have those comcerns, ure bettr off going to like a "stap.es" or some other local computer guy.

Well, there's your first mistake. "Hey download this, we'll clean your computer for free!" You can't smell the bullshit in that?

Free computer scanners claiming to detect spyware usually do just the opposite, they plant spyware into your computer and then claim to have found a virus.

Stealth-web-page-recorded just sounds like tracking cookies. Those can be removed with a reputable antivirus, such as norton security. (Which is free if you're a comcast customer)

Which one do you believe? Neither. Go buy a good antivirus, using free online software to clean your computer is only going to add more viruses and spyware.

Sounds like your parents are acting like google: spying on everything you do, type, look up on the web and even the email you receive and send, and not telling you a word about it.

Now, surveillance software is highly unlikely to show up as potentially harmful software (since it is installed by a user for a purpose, unlike most spyware). So online scanning tools and anti-virus software is unlikely to detect it even if it IS installed (is a trusted program). If you have administrator access to the computer, you should be able to remove any tracking software they install either through the software's uninstaller, or tools like CCleaner.

the first one I said, said there was keyloggers, but it wanted me to pay money to fix it.Plenty of those free programs will claim to have found malware that isn't there so that you will buy the full version to remove it. Once you pay up it'll tell you the malware has been "removed". You'll breathe a sigh of relief, except there was never any malware in the first place and you just got scammed.

Stop downloading all this stuff. If you're going to get any spyware, it's going to be from that, not your parents.

If you were being keylogged, your parents have probably noticed these topics you're posting. I could just picture them reading all this and laughing their asses off.
