something sad happened today during school

firstly hope this is in the correct section of the forum, if not please move.
so today at school there was a gay couple who got in major trouble just for sharing an extended kiss. a teacher, who hates gays, saw them and in a very loud voice, loud enough that nearly everyone in the hall heard, gave them detention and the other people started laughing at them. feel sorry for them. :/

How do you know he gave them a detention just because they were gay? Public display of affection isn't cool, gay or straight, and no one wants to watch people kissing passionately as they walk through the hallway. Get a room.

what an ass it shouldn't matter if people kiss in the hallway even if you don't want to see it. the school needs to do something about it that is sexist and they should have the right to do that. I mean for gods sakes its a free country isn't it. talkto them about it maybe you could help. talk to the teacher tell him it was wrong of him to do that and he needs to apologize for it. Yes you probably get a detention for it but you did something to help someone so it shouldnt matter and if he doesn't apologize talk to your principle about it.

Don't see why a quick kiss on lips is wrong in school? if you don't make a big number from it at least...

kissing is allowed in my school at least and hugging etc.

I think it would be hard for these boys to claim they were being treated unfairly because there is probably a general 'PDA' rule that the teacher would say they were breaking.

Depends on where you live and your school policies. My parents and I got an apology out of one teacher for being homophobic because school policy has an equality section in it.

If this is the US the ACLU might be able to advise them.

While I would say that the teacher's behaviour was inappropriate, giving them a detention for excessive displays of affection seems reasonable enough. The way it seems to me that he could have handled it better is that you say he drew attention to them by raising his voice unnecessarily. As far as the kissing, many schools do have rules (obviously not limited to gay students) advising against excessive shows of affection.

Reminds me of last year when someone got suspended for wearing a gay pride T-shirt to school.

i do understand the PDA rules my school has them to. but after school let out i have to walk halfway down the lot and my assistant principal walks past me to were a gay couple are she grabs them by the arms and marched them back to the high school but there are lesbian couples and straight couples doing the same thing and they can't now that is sexest they got suspened for two week :mad:
