In the ninth grade, the nurses told me I had mild scoliosis. My back didn't hurt, so I didn't think much of it. Over the years. my back did start hurting like hell especially when I moved for long periods of time. Earlier this summer, I went to the doctors and told them about the pain, but they didn't tell me anything other than it got worse. It's really noticeable now and the right side of my body feels higher and more uncomfortable than the left all day. In the past few months, but back has been in constant pain throughout the day and night. I've been getting even less sleep than before because I wake up with horrible pain. I've been on crazy amounts of aspirin, but they don't help much so I finally scheduled an appointment with the doctor. However, I'm worried that because they only consider it a mild case that, like last time, they're going to tell me nothing can be done.
So, to keep my mind at ease before I OD on aspirin, anyone else have this? If so, is the pain seriously bad or is it just mild?

Well, I can kinda relate to you. I have scoliosis too, and mine was Idiopathic, but has decreased now. I used to have a 50 degree curve, and I didnt know it until the scoliosis check at school. Now, it has decreased to a 30 degree curve. I didnt really have much pain in my back, but just the little bit of uncomfort in my back knowing that its curved. I was told that I was going to have surgery, but while waiting to go back to the doctor, I tried a soft brace. Now, when I used the soft brace, thats when the pain came in. Do you sit straight up or keep your back straight after you found out you have scoliosis, and you didnt really sit straight up before you knew you had scoliosis? Once you start sitting straight, or keep you back straight after not doing it, it does give you pain because its keeping your spine straight, and after a while of doing that, it begins to hurt (or to me it did). If you are able to, you should find a good Scoliosis Specialist to check you out. If they do refer you to use a brace, or to have surgery, I would do a lot of research on both. I would especially do a lot of research for the surgery, and the pros and cons of having the surgery. I never did have surgery, since my curve decreased, and Im hoping it has decreased even more. You doctor might also want to wait to do anything, because you could grow out of it. Thats what happened to me, my doctor said the reason why my curve decreased was probably due to me growing. Whatever you do, I wish you the best of luck. I know this can be very stressful. If you ever want to talk about it with me, I would be more than happy to do so.

My doctor recently told me i had some very minor curvature in my back (that's what i get for living in this computer chair) However he said it was nothing to be worried about.
Yeah, i do get some discomfort every so often. Especially in school, those chairs are really killer. I take an advil if it's too much to deal with, usually the pain goes away after that.

So, I went to the doctors today and he was pissed because my last doctor didn't do a checkup on my back. I got some pain killers and muscle relaxers and have to go back for x-rays. I'm actually scared that I might need surgery...
