When you're commuting; either in a private vehicle or on public transport, what pisses you off? For me:

People who take up seats with their luggage, hence why I HATE taking BART on Saturdays, when all the tourists board at the Airport station.

Loud talkers. Especially on the 88M, when every seat is taken by the High School socialites.

The crazies. Just go away people.

When people have no clue how to ride in a appropriate manner (eg. pull the stop request cord 10 times, seat hops, violates the bus/train rules, etc.) If you don't know how to hear "Stop Requested", or not realizing that putting a dollar bill instead of 75 cents in still counts as fare, you reaaaaly shouldn't be riding the bus.

When I run to the stop to either just miss the bus because drivers won't stop when I'm trying to cross the CLEARLY MARKED crosswalk, or when I'm super early and have to sit at the stop for 10 minutes.

When my Clipper Card won't work and I have to buy a day pass.

When riding on the 88, and having everyone RUN to the door and into me, and then I have to wait 5 minutes for everyone to put their fare in. It's not like the bus is going to speed away without you guys, just take your fucking time...

When I'm in our private vehicle and my dad gets road rage (he starts driving fast and ranting). It stresses me out.

When people won't listen to the FEDERAL LAW and get out of the Senior/Disabled priority seats on trains.

Rude fare inspectors. Jesus, I'm getting my card out, cut the "You're a fare evader" attitude. (*cough* *cough* Muni this is aimed at you *cough* *cough* *cough*)

But yeah, what about you guys?

Ooh I like these.

bus drivers that pull away before old or disabled people sit down safely
people who try to read what I'm reading
people who want to talk because they're bored, even though i'm reading and /or have headphones on
very overweight people who sit down next to me where clearly there won't be room to do so without oozing all over me
cars who overtake me on my bike and run me off the road to do so, just to get in front before the next junction.
oncoming cars overtaking parked vehicles who think they can squeeze past me on my bike with inches to spare while travelling towards me in excess of 30mph (and those who overtake from behind in the same instance are nearly as bad).

When people do any more than 5 under the speed limit on a perfectly dry, not busy road.
People who accelerate at the speed of a snail.
People who don't understand turn-signals.
People who come up behind me doing like (literally) 120MPH and brake so late that I have to accelerate so they won't hit me...

Late buses. That would have to be my main one :p
Oh yeah, when you rush to the bus stop only to find that you're waiting there for 20 minutes more. That sucks.

On the train when there are no seats because they're taken by OAP's and you have to stand by the doors getting trampled on.
The tube/tube stations in general, it's busy, so many steps, noisey, cold and very squashed.

Edit: for whoever neg repped me for this OAP means Old Age Pensioners

When the bus drivers can tell that I am running for the bus and they drive away anyways.
When people let their kids run all over the bus
When people put their feet on the seats
When guys won't give up their seats for people who need them.

A) On busy buses people stand even though there are seats free. then:
B) These 'standees' as I calm them clog access to the door (slowing down the journey times because stops are longer in time) and
C) When people are getting of in it is obvious seats are becoming free. TAKE ONE For the petes sake
D)I already referred to this in a meme I posted, but some drivers dont know how to issue the entire range of tickets. It's not rocket science. I could work the ticket machine and I'm not a driver/staff!
E) The people who put their feet up on opposite rear facing seats. Those seats get wrecked. Is this your home? No. So please put your feet down.
F)Loud music. Ok form time to time you'll hear somebody's loud music that you just want to sing along to. But it's rude to force your music on others. So let them have a peaceful journey.
G) People who don't move from priority seats, or are ignorant to the elderly and parents with buggies. GET OUT THE WAY!
H)When the bus leaves the bus station a minute early. Causing you to miss it.
I) When buses come along too early meaning you have to dodge and avoid people to make it onto another bus. Which is timetabled to be there at that time.
J) When bus drivers are just generally slow for no reason.
K) My local bus operater has signs up saying: "Our buses now have video recording equipment (CCTV) When 1) The vehicle hasn't even got CCTV fitted. or 2) CCTV has been around for years *facepalm*
L) Generally unclean vehicles.
M) When the timetable at a bus stop has been defaced by vandals but not replaced by NWM*
N)When drivers of buses forget to set the destination blind properly. Either when it doesn't update and would make the vehicle appear to be going in the wrong direction or when the via sign is somewhere the services doesn't serve.
O) When drivers don't set the destination sign to not in service. Very confusing when you try and get on.
P) When buses are late. Or don't show up at all.
Q) Rude unhelpful staff.
R) The bus (specific vehicle) that makes a farting sound every time the bus changes gear speed. (Obviously something not spotted or fixed) It makes me jump out my skin.
S) When my daysaver is printed but is badly faded or almost unlegible.
T) My local bus takes a trekk through narrow little streeets when it could go straight down a main road instead.
U) Pigeons in my local bus station. (Was funny when one flew into the wall and died and there was a lady who even tried to save it even though their considered vermain.)
V) When the electronic timetables are just inaccurate to say the least.
W) Lack of space and seating at some bus stops.
X) People who don't take their tickets from the machine. (The driver issues it and they just sit down)
Y) Too many buses goto the city hospital. It's very unclear which is quickest.
Z) What appears to be discrimination towards priority bus corridors. Local operators get extra funds for new buses to operate on services to disadvantaged neighbourhoods. Leaving the old crappy buses on other routes.

I don't allow most of these too annoy me but I thought it was worthwhile making a list of every observation that I make.

Bloody rude revvies that don't speak any liable English. Same with some Transit Officers.
People like this and this.
People who, especially in peak hour, stand around the doors and not moving down the carriage. That makes it a living hell for anybody getting on or off.
People who talk really loudly. Especially when it's over a phone (or other communications device), or in a foreign language.
Bus drivers who accelerate as fast as they can, as soon as you buy a ticket, before you've even looked at a seat.
People who put their music on speaker, especially when it's loud.
People that leave...
1) Condoms
2) Drug paraphernalia
3) Bodily fluids
...Et cetera.

The list goes on... I mean, seriously people? Common decency would be nice.

I have many!

1. People who drive ridiculously slowly in front of me
2. Stupid little boys trying to overtake me in their 1.2 puddle jumper
3. People driving way to close behind me, it just makes me drive slower to irritate them more.
4. Traffic police pulling me over every 5 minutes because I have a modified car.
5. People that park 2 inches away from me in a clearly otherwise empty car park.
6. Cyclists taking up more of the road than they should
7. Tractors, buses, trucks or any slow moving vehicle.
8. People that damn near stop at empty roundabouts.
9. People that don't turn down full beam lights when they are driving towards you.
10. Constantly having to buy new tires.
11. People trying to race you cause they see you have a quick car.
12. The terrible roads in Scotland that destroy alloy wheels.
13. How everyone slows down to 40mph as soon as a drop of rain hits the motorway.
14. Taxi drivers thinking they can do whatever they want and pull out anywhere in front of you.
15. Backseat drivers, tell me to slow down and you can walk home that's slower.
16. nervous passengers screaming even when I'm way under the speed limit.
17. Getting held up in traffic of any kind
And finally spending all my wages on petrol!

One of my pet peeves are when people complain about ridiculous things when taking transit. The things posted in this topic are pretty valid and reasonable, but all the time I read tweets of people complaining about another passenger staring at them on the bus. I can see how that might make you uncomfortable, but who cares? Even worse was one person who tweeted that someone was "looking" at them on the bus. Not staring, looking.

If merely being looked at makes you uncomfortable, take a fucking taxi.

Oh boy, where to begin!
People who won't just make a right turn on red, even with more that enough time.
People who go the speed limit and not a single mph more.
People who dramatically slow to a near hault when making a turn.
People how try to cut me off because they realize know they're in a turn only lane (this is where I'm a huge dick, I speed up and refuse to let people over, there's 3 signs, passing one car wont save you much time, go behind me)
People who judge me for jamming out while driving.
People who heaven forbid will go through a yellow light.
People that take more than 3 seconds at a stop sign.
People who tailgate me even when im going 5 over, well guess what, I'll go 5-10 under now, oh you want to pass me, I'll speed right back up... to hell with you asshole

And finally, I hate when people in my car choose what station or what song on my iPod...

OH! WHEN PEOPLE SIT IN A PARKING LOT WAITING FOR SOMEBODY TO BACK OUT AND GET THAT SPOT THAT'S ALL OF 30 FEET CLOSER!! GRRRRR!!!!

I hate when people don't move to the back of the bus when there's obviously room, and I hate when people sit in the aisle seat, thus blocking off the window seat. Oh, and those people that have their music so loud that everyone can hear it. Lastly, when the bus driver doesn't open the back doors when requested.

project_icarus
November 7th, 2012, 12:10 AM
Oh, a few more.
On Transperth Series-B trains, when the doors close at a station, they omit a somewhat high pitched beeping sound that is synchronised with the lights on the open-doors buttons... It's not that bad, but it's really irritating when you're tired, hungover, or on a late night/early morning train (whether you're tired or not, I dunno, I just hate it).

People who talk fucking loudly.

Also, there's a Facebook memes page that I'm not going to link you to, or mention the name of... If you're smart enough, you'll figure it out :P

How did I miss out on this!

Bus:

-How people give me dirty looks if I speak in English

-When my Multi card doesn't work on the Ontario side and I have to fight with the driver about whether my fair is valid or not

-Overcrowding to the extreme in rush hour

-People who spit

-People who are loud / drink, especially if they attempt to communicate with me

-How the STO and OC transpo do not work together on anything making the entire map a mess

-Infrequency of buses and lack of overnight STO buses

-Unreliability in timeliness i.e. might be 10 min early or might be 20 min late

-When people get on with no money and try to barter with the driver

-When we stop for no particular reason for an extended period of time

-When the bus driver stops on his scheduled route and goes to get a coffee

Airplane:

-When all the window seats are taken and the person in your row closes the window shade

-When the person in the aisle falls asleep on you

-Children period.

-People who snore

-People who take their socks off

-Bitchy flight attendants

-Unhelpful solutions to problems i.e. "we can't get you to toronto today, but if you take a layover in new york and chicago you can be there by tomorrow morning"

-AND last but not least, that guy that passes wind! FUCK YOU!!!

Bus

-People who sit upstairs and blast music full volume
-People who do drugs/smoke on the bus
-People who waltz over to my seat, and lean OVER me to close MY SEAT'S window
-Traffic
-People who wait until they've queued up and at the driver to find their money
-People under age 15
-When the driver charges the maximum fare when I'm only going 2 stops
-When the heater is on IN SUMMER

Train

-Assh**s who think it's okay to play football on the tracks.
-As above re drugs/smoking
-Leaning out the door at every stop and smoking
-Sitting beside me when there are at LEAST 20 other free rows in the carriage!
-When the toilets are manky

I don't actually start working on aircraft for another few weeks, but when I do I'm sure I'll build a list of my hates there too.

I don't take public transport because where I am it's beyond hopeless.
I hate it when buses pull out right in front of me.
Slow drivers occupy EVERY lane. Merge into the slow lane dammit.
People who cut into my lanes. I tailgate them on high-beam till they get out, then stare at them while I overtake :D
People who take so long at the red lights to move off.
Seeing road construction workers slack off and do a horrible job. Sometimes I knock down all the road cones just to give them something to do.
Distracted drivers. When I see people clearly texting, facebooking, even READING THE BLOODY NEWSPAPER. wtf?
Stopping at the railway crossing. Take my tax money and build a damn bridge :P
Gah. Too many pet peeves.
